Just Installed Diablo tune.....BUT

Post by undertow74 »

So, got my predator in the mail the other day and installed the performance tune. i have the U7198, and have a 2001 Formula Firebird. and honsetly, i can not tell a difference at all...

I have LT Headers and 3" magnaflow exhaust all the way back, PP throttle body, and Lid/ FTRA setup. when i did my exhaust i could def. tell a difference in performance and WOT, but i installed the tune and didnt notice much of anything.....do i have to wait longer or something for the PCM to figure out what the hell its doing or what? Can i get a better custom tune seeing as i have a few aftermarket mods??

Any help would be great....just feel kinda dissapointed at the moment seeing as i spent the money on it and it seems like for nothing...

I have a 2001 C5 Corvette and I added the twin tube intake, x-pipe and Corsa exhaust. After that I found some good improvements but I really found the quickest gains from the throttle body. After the throttle body I actually felt the difference. When I installed the dialbo performance tune it actually felt like I lost my throttle response. I worked with Sticky on this forum to change my injector slope and got my throttle response back. The tune kept my engine coolant at about 194 degrees all the time - b4 it was up to 230 degrees in traffic. I was also able to disable my CAGS (Computer Aided Gear Skip) and now I don't have to go from 1st to 4th anymore.

Tell me about the headers - I am looking for headers as well. How much did they cost and where did you buy them? With Long Tube headers did you have to change the O2 sensor location or get rid of them?

do some data logging and get your fueling dialed in... adjust your injector slope to get your average LTFT's in the 0 to -2 range...

@Dannenburgcorvette I got my Headers and Y pipe setup and Texas speed. At the time i got a damn good deal on them, that was well over a year ago though. i got a set of Pacesetter headers(not the best headers out there, But Damn good for the price and the fitment is excellent) and their custom Y pipe as a set for uner $500. You cant go wrong with something like that for that price. I was going to just tune out the rear o2 sensors, but since i welded my exhaust in, i figured i should just cut a hole weld a nut in place and put the o2 sensor back in. i Put in in Further downstream on the Y pipe, and have not a single problem at all.

well, it's easier if you have it, and can view the logs in MS Excel and run 'em through DSLogRedux, BUT... you can still do it without it...

make sure your car is up to normal operating temps before you start monitoring the live data...

then, get on a highway, and do steady driving/cruising so that your rpm's are at 1800-2000, and look at the live data on the predator screen for your Long Term Fuel Trim Bank 1, and Long Term Fuel Trim Bank 2... see what those numbers are reading while your doing the steady driving/cruising at the correct rpm...

remember them, or have someone ride with you and write them down....

then, you take the average of them, and adjust your injector slope the opposite of what they were...

for example... if the average ltft's were +5.xx... you would need to adjust your injector slope to -5%....

Hence having my LTFT's between 0 & -2.................just subtract that +5.xxx from the -5.xx resulting in 0 correct? and that should be the same range i need for my LS1 correct.(between 0 & -2)
