CalID not supported 2006 PT Cruiser

Post by Parnelli98 »

Predator P/N: U7134 (# on smaller sticker on back of unit: 237323)

Revision: 9r16

2006 PT Cruiser turbo (180 hp)

I had purchased this unit last week, and just had a CMR tuning shop in town (Automotive Diagnostic Specialties in Chandler, AZ) attempt to use it today for the first time while dyno testing my PT, and the unit is displaying it does not support this CalID when trying to do anything (other than test the OBDII, CAN in my case, port). The CalID it displays is: 05153648AA. The PCM that is on my PT is a Stage 1 unit that I purchased new from a Chrysler dealer, and have had it on the vehicle for over a year (with no problems). I have read a post on PTCrew.com about problems such as this, and part of the problem is there are still some PCMs out that have yet to be identified by CalID by the Predator. Is this correct, and what is my next step of action?

Thanks!

I ordered a st 1 but am being told i would not need it if i bought a Predator! I also have an agp wg but not installed yet ,will go to a larger dp ,what size would you suggest? Also this isa daily driver so i need reliability ! I also own an 03 srt-4 / 05 magnum hemi! My first car was a 1971 Challenger R/T, which i still own with 43,000 miles on it! We are all Mopar here! Any help will be appreciated! I have a afr gauge also , just asa precaution!

ps, i hate the soft shifting of it also , would it be improved also? I understand they pull timing out just as it shifts?

Thank you Brian! I received your e-mail with no problem; however I have replied with what I have encountered.

dennyc: Think of the Stage 1 PCM as bolting on 1 tune. Granted the S1 PCM does include programming for firmer shifting for automatic transmissions, but in essance you will only have 1 tune. With the Predator, you can upload tunes that you create, or have created for you by CMR tuning facilities. You can even have a tune e-mailed to you from a CMR tuner that created the tune for you from your list of engine mods. As for the automatic transmission, that would be something that DiabloSport would have to address (lets hope they are working on it!).

Stage 1 pcm for 06 PT

Post by dennyc »

Thanks for your reply, ! i would guess that i SHOULD cancel the Mopar Stage 1! Just go with the predator but ,still may have a shifting issue? I did try to call them on the 26 th but didn't get anybody! I got a message from my dealer ,stating the eta for my Stage 1 is now 3/27/09! I should just cancel it!

The Predator won't cause a shifting issue, and using Predator tunes on a non-Stage 1 PCM won't cause shifting issues. I don't know what kind of cancel policy your dealer has, whether or not they will charge you for canceling a special order. If you can afford to purchase both, then go for it. If it's one or the other, than that choice is up to you. Either way your car will love you for it!

If i purchase the predator also , will Diablo , figure out tunes for me or just how is that done? If i send them my mods ,they will program it for me? LOL ,This computer tuning is wayy new to me ,i'm a carb and jets man! This new wayy isa lot cooler! If i may , i want a "better exhaust" ,but not LOUDER, i'm an old man here, any suggestions? I'd like to keep a single outlet tho , i like the "sleeper" concept!

Brian,

Can we try this again please? I have sent you an e-mail describing what I had encountered after entering the password you had sent, and have not heard back from you.

Mike,

I have installed my original PCM back into my PT, and tried to upload the performance tune. I turn the key on when prompted (with the parking brake applied), and after the 2-3 second wait, this is the next screen display:

"Predator U7134 does not support Calid: 05033415AH. Tool update might be available".

I press enter to continue, and this is the next display:

"Feature not supported on this vehicle. Call tech support with your CALID, reflash might be required. Press enter to view CALID".

The next screen shows the CalID I have listed above. Prior to plugging in the Predator, I reflashed it back to the v.9r16 CROM. The reflash went without any issues. Will I have to go through the same reprogramming with my stock PCM installed as I would have with the Stage 1? Or is there a simpler fix for this? At least the screen displays are different than in my original problem, but I am still unable to use the Predator. Any suggestions?

OK, looks like we'll be able to support your stock PCM in the next revision.

Great! :D

Here is the inevitable question: do you have a guess as to when the next revision will be released?
