Overboost 2005 F-350 Dually 6.0
I was towing my 5th wheel and I heard a loud pop. I lost power and truck started smoking badly. When I pulled over I noticed that the plastic tube that comes from the intercooler had burst open. I had truck programed with towing tune (Equipment installed on truck 4 inch exhuast, cold air intake and predator programmer). The truck is under warranty but Ford Dealership said that programmer had over boosted system. I was monitoring guages and never saw boost over 20 inches. This looks like a poor design to me (Plastic tube comes off off intercooler a lot of heat is generated from radiator in this area possibly weakening tube causing it to rupture.) Ford charged me $185 for another plastic tube. Has anyone else had this problem? Are there any after market replacements out there? 7.3 used an aluminium tube with rubber hoses at each end! Any advise would really be appreciated. I do not think this is a Predator problem.

I have seen this before, its a cheaper design of a intercooler. The tow tune wouldnt create much more than stock boost levels. But they happen on FORD/GM/DODGE as well. I have seen some replacements from the factory use all aluminum replacements.jnoles wrote:I was towing my 5th wheel and I heard a loud pop. I lost power and truck started smoking badly.
