08 silverado
I have a 08 Silvarado 4.8 reg cab. 63 series k&n cai and a dual cherrybomb pro exhaust. I purchased a superchips cortex and i am really dissapointed. The program works great when it is cold I am running a 15.32 in the quarter. When it warms up my truck runs better in stock mode. Also in performance mode and stock mode the truck is no diffrent. The take off is exactly the same. What i want to know is. Does anyone have any real proof of hp, tourque, and speed gains on the 4.8 using the preditor. I am sending the cortex back and i am looking for hard evidence before i purchase. I mean people were raving about the cortex but i am not impressed. MY truck in stock form runs a 15.8 in the quarter and to be honest i want to know what kind of power gains i am going to get with the preditor i just dont want to be dissapointed agian. I really dont want the 20 to 30 hp spill that everyone gets. I want stone cold proof if you have it. Thanks and im sorry if I seem rude it is just i have got a real runaround with superchips. They have blamed it on my rims, my intake, and my engine. Pretty much everything but the programer. I know that the truck is running rich while tuned. My exhaust pipe is solid black since installing the tune. I know that is a part of why it isnt running right. my fuel trims are never at 0.00 like they should be. Someone please help me out.

Well, best thing to say is with the Predator, you have control over your trims, so that will not be an issue.
I have to wonder though, what kind of gains are you expecting?
I am no SC fan, but if you picked up .5 seconds in the 1/4 mile with their tune, well that's a huge gain. I cant say by any means that we could offer much more of an improvement than that.
Tuning for power is the easy part, and it is not tough to find 20 rwhp on these trucks with quality fuel, its the rest of the features of the tuner that should sway your decision.
Thanks
Mike

well i picked up that much of a gain after a intake and exhaust. The problem is that the tuner is messing up over time after about 3 days the performance tune is slower and more slugish than the stock tune.

Hmmm.
That is certainly not an issue with our tune, not sure what could cause that.

RE: 08 silverado
I am also a former SC Cortex user. I have a 2008 Silverado with the 5.3. I don't know of any exact numbers as my truck never sees a track. But I can definitely tell a difference between a SC tune and the Predator tune. I bought the Predator with the whole mind set of using it to change my tire sizes and keep it at the 87 Octane tune. But now after having the 87 Octane tune on for a few days, I'm rather curious about putting one of the performance tunes on. I have also read that the newest version of software (9r07 I think) makes a really good difference in the tunes. The only drawback to the Predator, which has me considering a return of the programmer. Once you pay $369 for the tuner, you have to lay out $40-$50 more to get the cables to hook it up to your pc. I find that it is not favorable for me to pay an additional fee to upgrade my unit. I purchased this unit brand new a week ago and have like level 9r03. So for me to get all these benefits I am hearing of with the current version, I will have to pay more money. I like the Predator alot, but I might consider a return to try something else out that includes pc connection cables.
