U7135 Autostick Upshift - undesirable effect

Post by Greenheugh »

I found Mode 1 and Mode 2 to both work on my 5.7 300C.
I liked the flat refusal to change down on acceleration, and I enjoyed turning MDS on and off by nudging the lever to the right repeatedly (D - 5 - D - 5 etc) as I cruised along.

But I did not like the refusal to change up at the high rpm.
And I especially did not like the transmission dropping into neutral at extreme rpm instead of changing up.
In my opinion that would not suit even the most enthusiastic of manual gear change drivers.
I had to pull over, select Park, switch off and restart to get transmission back again. The first time it happened to me (Mode 1) I was taken by surprise when overtaking a lorry leaving a roundabout ..... the second time (Mode 2) was deliberate on a quiet road.
It would be much safer for the engine to sit on the rev limiter and stay in gear until the driver shifts it up or slows down.

I have only had my Predator a week or two and maybe there are settings somewhere to sort this.

Also it brings up the P0700 Transmission System (MIL Requested) code when it happens.

I think I'll try Mode 0 (stock) again.

Best regards to the excellent DS team.

I had the same problem, selecting mode III if I remember correctly... revving up to the limiter, then BANG...transmission failure light came on on the dash, I had to stop and restart the car to get back to normality, at the end I reverted the setting back to stock..

You guys are bouncing off the limiter and going into Limp Mode. There are lots of posts about it on here, just search a bit more and you'll find lots of info on it. I would say, start with the word "Limp" first and go from there.

Apparently, the alternate transmission modes are not working for your application. Does Mode 1 work instead of Mode 2 or 3?

As I understand it only one of the available modes will work for any given application. The other modes then will give unpleasant results like they say above. If you have one that works and you are not bouncing off the rev limiter then that is the setting that works...enjoy!
