01 GT with a CAI and TB upgrade

Post by engelhardt »

On my 2001 GT, I have a K&N cold air intake and 78mm BBK throttle body w/an integrated plenum. I've installed the predator's standard tune for 93 octane (U7146); I didn't notice any real power increase with the tune, but it did stop the detonation that I had running these mods on the GT's stock tune. Next, I've experimented with the air/fuel ratio, going one notch richer 2000-4000 rpm and 4000-7000rpm. The car sounds a little better at higher rpms, but again, nothing noticeable in power as compared to the car's stock tune withthe mods. Do these modifications require a custom tune? Do these mods really add power only when you combine them with modifications on the exhaust side? I'm planning to add shorty headers and an X-pipe. Will that require a custom tune? Think I'll get real power increases?

with mods such as the t/b and plenum, you would benefit from a custom tune. but seeing as how you're planning on installing headers and an x-pipe and you're not encountering any major issues, i would just wait till after the install for the tune.

thanks
