performance tune u7192

Post by josepht85 »

I got an 06 silverado with a 5.3 and the u7192 tuner. I installed the performance tune for the first time because I am moving this weekend and need the power pulling all my belongings in a 21ft inclosed trailer. I haven't tweak my ltfts yet, waiting till tomorrow when its warmer, but I ran about 20miles tonight, and it just don't seem like the truck gets up like it did when hit hits passing gear. Is adjusting the fuel gonna help this issue or do I need to add some timing or what? Thanks

Don't mess with timing until the fueling is set. Yes fueling will help. The order to adjust is LTFTs, PE, then timing. Do not make more than one change at a time. Make sure you give at least 50 miles between LTFT adjustment, gives the ECM time to relearn the new settings.

I know this is a stupid question, but I have to ask. When you changed to the performance tune, did you change your fuel to 93 octane?

need at least 91 octane, since the performance tunes for the trucks are made for 91 octane or higher... doesn't HAVE to be 93...

91 is for panzies!! Why not pay 10 cents more per gallon and get the 93? Personally, I am thinking about hooking up to the 99 tank here at work and seeing what will happen, lol!

it will make a difference, that's for sure!

occasionally, I go to a station about 15 minutes from me that has Sunoco GT100 (aka CAM2) 100 octane unleaded at the pump... car LIKES that stuff!!

last time I checked tho, it was $7.69 a gallon... so, haven't done THAT in a while... hahahaa...

Yea, its got 93 in it, that's about all I ever run in it. I'm gonna play with the fueling today, I don't have PE on a u7192. After I get the ltfts dialed how do I go about seeing if I need to put some more time in it.

Chances are you won't really need to mess with the timing too much if at all. Get your ltfts dialed in, run it for about 50 miles and see how it runs. I will say, I could tell a difference after running for about 50 miles, but it didn't REALLY come alive until about 70-100 miles. Now it runs like a scalded dog. My next step is to run a log and let Lew (06MonteSS) hook me up on one of his masterpieces!

Ok I check my ltfts on the way home today, @ 2150rpm plus or minus, I got a pretty constant reading of negative2.34 and 4.69, I added 2 precent to my injector slope. I know that won't get it exactly in the 0 negative 2 range but I'm gonna drive it another 50miles or so and check again. If I didn't do this right, yall let Me know

yup... if you were getting -2.34 and -4.69... then you need to adjust your slope to +4% from wherever it was set at before....

then you'll be dialed right in...

Also monte, i was wondering, my u7192 doesnt have the ability to log, i have to just right it down as it goes, it normally doesn't go up or down when i keep it at a steady rpm. If i download the DSlogredux, will i be able to log with my turner?

DSlogredux doesn't give you the ability to log. It is a tool that is used with the log itself. The individual handheld is what gives the ability to log or not.
