Odd behavior after using predator on 06 GTO

Post by toupee »

Hi all,
U7191 - latest revision - just downloaded from this site last week.
I bought a used 06 GTO (manual tranny) and figured I'd try a predator on it. When I download the diablo tune the car idles and runs fine... until 3rd and 4th gear. About 3000 rpm it just falls flat. Like an rpm limiter on a 4 wheeler. Without the tune it runs fine. Haven't tried any of the other diablosport tunes.
I bought this car at a salvage dealer so I don't know everything about it, but I do know it has long tube headers, a cold air intake, and aftermarket trick flow heads. It *might* have a cam too (sounds like it).
Any ideas on what might be up?

well, if it has those mods done to it, that would explain it... it would need to get on a dyno and be dyno-tuned....

It could have a custom tune for all I know. If it does then the tune doesn't provide the best idle or low end driving response. Would the cut out be related to lean conditions created from the add ons? If that's the case I'm surprised it didn't at least cause the check engine light to come on.

if you can post up a copy of the original backup tune from the predator, I can look at it and see if it's a stock GM tune or not... I can tell ya if it already had a tune in it before you used the predator on it.

here's info on how to copy the original backup out of the predator to your PC:

you'll need to have the power adapter and serial cable to hook up the predator to your PC in order to do it...

you exported the "original backup" and not the "extra tune", right??
