Since when? I've used heater hose on both my SRT8s and haven't had any issues with it not standing up.

10ml per 500 miles is a low estimate too. I've filled the BT can 90% in just over 3000.

It takes a good while for the heater hose to start collapsing (we're not talking any sort of huge vacuum). It's gradually going to rot/get softer and softer from the inside due to the oil deteriorating the rubber. If you can't find hose specifically for PCV then rubber fuel line will do just fine (Napa has it in bulk -- 1/2" inner diameter). It's what it's lined with that's impervious to the chemicals. That's why BT had to change the heater hose they originally shipped their can with.

10 ml to 11 ml per 500 is typical. I kept careful track measuring in a beaker for over 10K and managed to get a few other SRTs to do the same. Some collected more, most everybody was right between 10 ml and 11 ml. It's true that no one collected less. You had some huge knock problem too right? I'm not convinced that your engine is exactly representative. No doubt it makes a measurable difference eliminating it when tuning for more performance

Yes, on both of my 6.1s, which leads me to believe that its common. On the new top end, there has been minimal knock, never more then 1.5 degrees, and it still throws ALOT of oil into the can.

question... you guys think i should add more fuel to eliminate knock as much as possible. it spikes to 3 at 5% rich but thats it.

also there is jet throttle body spacer for sale for 55 bucks is it worth getting?

I think everyone agrees that the TB spacer does not do any real damage (but it probably does impede air flow a bit). So if you want to pay $55 for a whistling sound it shouldn't hurt anything.

Well... I was up around 15% I think. I actually tuned with a wideband and was looking at AFR. It was about right around 11.9 - 12.1 I'm not exactly sure how much fuel that was because I saved the tune to the pc and then reloaded it to the predator as a custom tune a couple of times and didn't write down the changes I had made before saving to the PC. (it's a long story. I was trying out different approaches. One was tuning to about 12.6 AFR and pulling timing as necessary and the other one was tuning to about 12.0 AFR. I kind of gave up on the 12.6 at some point. Unfortunately I can't remember if I pulled a degree of timing in one or two ranges either.

Since then I've been running a CMR tune for a good while (that is around 12.0 AFR also). Mainly to get the shifting/torque management just where it feels good to me. (I guess that wasn't much help for you).

Maybe gas and likely a lack of a catch can may have something to do with it. When you have a little layer of oil in the manifold it's not going to get fed into the cylinders real evenly so the knock retard may not be real consistent from day to day.

Don't be shy. Try throwing like 22% at it and see what happens. Worst case if you go way too rich it's going to smoke a little bit and you'd lose a little power. Nothing to worry about for a little while or a couple of days. After that you can try pulling a degree of timing and back off on the fuel.

some knock issue

Post by Rick184u »

so i just got my predator and the C&L Air intake and love it for my 2008 srt8 6.1 challenger. however im getting some knock between 1-2nd and 3 gear while shifting or stomping the gas . i did some data logging and the st knock goes up to 5.50 and the LT gose up to 3.50 which im told is high. should i add fue to rich or lean or decrease timing? im running the 91 cai tune but running 93 gas what should i do. the gas i use is Bp amaco

i have the exact same problem and cant seem to tune it out. by adding fuel i elimated most of the knock during wot thru the gears but between shifting and stomping the gas is where i cant bring it down. i am gonna try pulling a degree of timing.

for you rick try adding fuel first.

well i try adding fuel it did not work, i work it up from 5 % all the way to 20 % and that did not work, i took off timing by - 1 and restart with the fule that did not work its just got more bad. so what i did was reinstall the stock tune, and modified the stock tune the way i want, like the rev limiter and the speed limiter the transmission and the tire size and wow she running good i did some data logging and the st knock goes up to like 2 and back to zero and the LT stay at zero when stomping it and changing gears. and best of all the knock is gone, i am still using 93 gas and she is running great here in Miami on Thursday is race night and i been kicking some ass i have a 2008 srt8 6.1 challenger with C&L Air intake and more to come soon.
