Predator u8000
2005 Mustang GT
I recently took my Mustang in for its' first Illinois emission test and it was rejected. I am hoping this is simple, known issue when using the Predator. before I do the extreme and pull the cold air kit and return to stock, I figured it would be best to ask on this forum. One small note - I had blown an accessory fuse (the power port in the arm rest) doing some electrical work the day before the test. Is it possible it is simply that the sensors were not yet ready because of this - long shot, but I figured I should ask.
Here are the items that caused problems:
Catalytic Converter Eff. - Status = Not Supported
Heated Oxygen Sensor - Status = Not Ready
Secondary Air System - Status = Not Supported
A/C Refrigerant - Status = Not Supported
EGR Flow - Status = Not Supported
Heated Catalyst - Status = Not Supported
Oxygen Sensor - Status = Not Ready
Any ideas/tips would be appreciated!

with all of those being not ready, looks like you may have disconnected your battery, or flashed a tune to the car within a day or two before goin to the test...
doing either of those two things causes all of the readiness tests to be reset... then you need 5-7 driving cycles before they're all run again and ready to go be tested...

Yes it maybe possible you are allowed 1 not ready I/M Montior the reason you failed it cause you had two not ready Monitors drive it around about 200 miles and run it back through you should be fine...........Illinois Inspection must have missed the Cat Montior not supported thing a result of the downstream O2 sensors being turned off with the Predator but if they missed it once they will miss it again I assume. Always good to get 1 up on them
Re: RE: 2005 Mustang Reject Emissions Test
Help me out with some more details. So if I read you right, the "O2 downstream sensors being turned with the predator" means that there are some changes made by the Predator that might make it impossible to pass the emmisions test. Remember, the people working there dont know much, I wouldn't say the "missed it", I would say they didn't know what they were doing.dbqking wrote:Illinois Inspection must have missed the Cat Montior not supported thing a result of the downstream O2 sensors being turned off with the Predator but if they missed it once they will miss it again I assume. Can I turn the downstream O2 sensors back on using the predator, thereby hopefully enabling some of the "Not Supported" failures? Or, should I just return to stock, and yank out the cold air kit?
Bigger question - if I return to the stock tune, can leave the cold air kit (C&L) installed for the test or will I have problems with air flow sensor detecting too much flow? I am running the 87 tune.
Re: RE: 2005 Mustang Reject Emissions Test
I haven't done any flashing or disconnected the battery recently. The only thing I did was blow the fuse for the power port in the arm rest. I replaced the fuse right away though.06MonteSS wrote:with all of those being not ready, looks like you may have disconnected your battery, or flashed a tune to the car within a day or two before goin to the test...

RE: Re: RE: 2005 Mustang Reject Emissions Test
The Not supporteds are just cause the mustang really doesnt use those monitors stock or tuned execpt for the Cat monitor that one is saying not supportted cause of the tune. If they didn't say nothing about it wouldn't worry about it. It can be turned on you need one of the diablosport guys for that cause they can walk you through it way better than me I need to be starring at the thing. If you return to the stock tune the intake has to go back to stock as well or it will kick the Check Engine light and you will fail for that. If you just drive it a few days you should go through I would have to think!!
