Data Viewer Help
I have a 2007 NBS GMC Sierra 5.3 U7194vers. 8r06. The diablo works great, but when I log data and try to upload it on dataviewer the screen doesn't move from searching for a tool, scanning ports. The diablo is booted up to the main screen and hooked up to my computer. any suggestions ?
RE: Data Viewer Help
On your PC make sure the COM settings are correct for the port. I assume a Windows based PC, go into device manger and click the + by ports. Which ever COM port appears then use that one. For instance, I installed the Radio Shack USB-to-serial cable and installed the driver. Now it appears as COM3 on my PC. Once you know the COM port on the PC check the baud rate as well under port settings. It should be 115200.
On the Predator go into Options screen and set the baud rate to 115200.
Connect the Predator to the PC first then boot it up. Then launch the dataviewer and it should find it and show connected.

Right click 'My Computer', select 'properties'
Click the hardware tab, then select device manager.
Click the + sign next to ports to see the USB to serial cable.
Thanks

RE: vineymac
I found the device manager and it says I am on COM5 and the rate 115200, is there something I'm doing wrong with the data viewer ?
RE: vineymac
On the Predator, boot it up, go into options, then serial baud and highlight 115200 then OK it.
On the PC, in device manager under Ports I assume COM5 is where it says RadioShack USB-to-serial is at. Other COM ports should display as Communications Port. From your post it is COM5 w/115200.
Another test is to use the LS2 PC interface software to check connectivity. It the Predator and the interface software do not connect then it is an issue with the PC to Predator. If they do connect then it is a Dataviewer issue.
Lets see if there is connectivity first and we'll go from there.

RE: vineymac
After I select COM5 and press get file from predator in the LS2 PC software it says connect the predator and start the Xmodem transfer before pressing ok, what is the Xmodem transfer ?
RE: vineymac
Its just the protocol for file transfering. Start the process from the Predator first then click on Get File on the software.
Power the Predator up and connect the serial cable. Go to the “options” menu, then go to “Custom Tune” menu, go to” Export Tune”, then go to PC interface software. If you can send the backup to the PC then we have a connection between the two.

It started to do it's thing and my computer died, like 20% through it but at least we know it connecting
RE: vineymac
Right on! So there is connectivity.
After you reboot make sure there arent any apps running. Look in the system tray (lower right hand corner by the time) and close anything that is running. To narrow it down even more, power off and unplug any peripherals you have attached to the PC such as printer, scanner, and/or camera.
