Data Viewer Help

First is to make sure the Dataview is version 3.0.0.15. Open the current one and click on Help then About from the drop down menu bar on top of the screen. If it is the correct version then plug in the serial cable to predator. Attach the power and let it boot up. Launch the Dataview software and see it if connects. At the bottom of the screen is should show Connected. If it doesnt connect, there is a button at the top of the screen that is shaped like a white box with a blue line through it, if I recall correctly. Click that and see if it will connect again.

I actually have version 3.0.0.16 and I'm still not getting anything in the Data Viewer, I cannot find the button your talking about, the only button I can press is the open folder for already saved logs

Hmmm. I will have to try it at home so I can be in front of the software. There is a button up top that is used to connect to the Predator. I cant recall exactly what it looks like.

At least the Predator communicates with the PC! We'll figure it out.

yeah thats what i don't understand why it works with the LS2 interface but not with dataviewer, but when you get a chance check it out thanx

Heres what I did this evening.

Connected serial cable to Predator. Connected power to Predator and let it boot up. Launched the Dataviewer software and it acquired vehicle information and connected to the Predator.

You did say the USB-to-serial cable is set to COM5. Mine is set to COM3 so there may be conflict. Go back into Device Manager and under Ports you should have COM1 and then COM5 for the RadioShack cable. Double click on RadioShack USB-to-serial (COM5) to open the properties window. Click on the port settings tab then the Advanced button. Change the COM port number from COM5 to COM3. Click OK and OK then try to connect the Predator with the Dataviewer software again. Follow the procedure I did above. Hope this helps.

The currently released version of the DataViewer (3.0.0.16) only scans for tools on COM ports 1 through 4. The version that is currently undergoing beta testing checks COM 5 and 6. Switching to COM 3 should fix your problem, or you can wait for the next release once it has passed QA.

I changed the port to com port2 and it's working perfect.
