How much timing to remove?

Post by Griffon327 »

Running a 98 GT 2V with 12PSI Pro charger and 3 core inter cooler
Bassani X-pipe with cats
Borla Stinger cat back exhaust.
24 lb injectors
MAF calibrated by Pro-m for 24lb and pro charger
FMU

Always run 93 octane with octane boost and have a U7146 predator that was used on my 2003 GT.

No longer programmed for the 2003 GT and wish to use on the 98 However I need some one to tell me exactly how much timing the diablo tune installs so that I can REMOVE that amount immediately after installing the tune?
I am thinking the number to remove is 2 degrees? could someone officially tell me the amount? I want to make sure the tune does not add timing until the car gets on the dyno later this year.
A/F ratios are not a concern as wide band o2 sensor installed.

Also need to know if custom tune will compensate for larger injectors without the need to recalibrate my MAF? Other companies can do this? need to install 42 lb injectors to handle the pile of parts that are going to be installed shortly but PRO-M is no longer in business so sending my stock meter out is no longer an option.

The best way to do this is to log timing in the stock tune and compare that reading to a log of the Diablo tune, and remove the appropriate amount of timing.

Yes, the custom tune can be used to recalibrate the MAF as well.

The Diablo Tune is not setup for supercharged configurations. You need a custom tune. Your best option is a Lightning MAF and Injectors, and remove the FMU. You may also need to upgrade your fuel pump depending on what you have. Then go to one of our CMR dealers for a dyno tune.

Thanks for the speedy reply.
Injectors are very high on the list of mods. Pro charger had absolutely no justifiable excuse to ship a 12 PSI kit with an FMU and recommend 24 lb injectors. That was poor packaging.

The kit should have required 42 lb injectors and required a PCM reflash but I guess they wanted to keep the output low so they can warranty the kit.

Does diablo sell end user software in order to write the complete parameters for an individual like SCT pro-racer? Just need for one vehicle presently.
If so how much?
and if not then why?

Used the predator for 3 years on my 2003 GT but never was able to load the stock tune (other then the original factory tune)
Am I correct in assuming that this will let me re install the stock tune but let me adjust parameters like shift point RPM limits and other minor things?
If so then exactly how is this done as I was never able to accomplish this on the 2003 GT? Scanner would never let me do this as I distinctly remember wanting to data log this but it would not let me.
