What fuel do i need to use? avalanche 2009

Post by Solid »

Hey everybody!

I just got a call from my dealer that my predator will be ariving this week :D And the stuff i need to hook it up to the computer to load the 2009 support :D

But when I was reading the forum the other day, I realised you guys talk about 87 and 91 octane fuel. But here in europe I can fill it up with Euro 95 or diesel. And since it is a 6.0 gas engine diesel isn't an option

But wich tune can i use? I hope I can use the best performance tune

We also got a special fuel form shell called V-power 95 this cost a lot more. But they say it is higer burning or something like that. So wich tune should I use?

When the predator arrives i will give some feedback on everything.

you would use the 91 tune, which is the Diablo Tune....

do NOT use Shell gas...

Thank you MonteSS!

Why should I not use shell gas? It's one of the biggest suppliers here in europe. and the 3 being the closest to my home are shells stations. But do you have a very good reason why not? maybe its wort the little trip to the texaco or the total or BP but they are futher away.

I haven't heard anybody about this here. So i'm curious

I have observed that recently the Shell gas around here has gotten better, maybe they changed the formulas around but i have not had the issues i used to have with Shell fuels anymore, try it and log your knock then go fill up with with another brand and compare, that way you will know for sure.

Shell usually has alot more detergent in it, to keep you engine and injectors clean. Problem is the detergent doesn't burn as well as gasoline. No fuel burn = pinging or knocking. So try it, log your engine performance to see if you have knocking, then make a decision.

yeah, if ya see their new commercials they have on tv, they're now adding nitrogen to their gas...

Oke i will give it a try and see.

Shell has introduce something new to the market here it is called fuelsave. They claim that on a average of 50 L tank you will burn 1 Liter less. So it will save me 2 Liter every fill up. But do you guys expect anything strange with this fuel and the tune? or will it be okay? It is still EURO 95 but they've just replaced every shell station with this kind of fuel. If you guys expect problems then i will go to Bp or Total.

Shell was notorious for causing a lot of knock retard... which is why we say not to use it, and you should use mobil, exxon, sunoco, amoco or BP...

but if johan says it seems better now with their new nitrogen blend, then you can try it out I guess...

but me, I'm stickin' with my Mobil... heh...

I would suggest using the BP fuel. Personally I have a financial interest in BP and that has no bearing on my suggestion to use it. See, I am one of the guys in the blue suits that actually refines the crude oil into the gasoline and I can honestly say that our (BP) fuel is some of the best on the market. I would say go with BP/Amoco, Exxon/Mobil, or Texaco.

Lew, just for clarification, BP and Amoco are the same now as well as Exxon and Mobil. I also hate to tell you, but inside sources say that your Sunoco 100 might be a little harder to get in the future. The way I understand it, they are mothballing a few units and the race/AV gas will be a little difficult to get unless you have a pretty good supplier in your area.

yeah... amoco stations pulled out of CT YEARS ago here... but there are still a few BP ones around... didn't know those two were the same...

knew exxon/mobil was the same....

I have a mobil station 15 minutes from me that has CAM2 100-unleaded (aka Sunoco GT100) right at the pump, so it's nice and easy ;) hope they don't ditch it from that place... that's the only place close to me that has it :-(

I'll have to take a ride by the station and see if they still have their CAM2 pump... and check the price... may have to stock up on some 5 gallon cans

good info man - thanks!!!
