Average time to do a tune?

Post by 04eblue »

I am asking this somewhat on behalf of a new local CMR tuner here in Langley BC.

One of the salesmen was wondering how long an average tune would usually take on a lightly modified Dodge whether it is an LX body or an SRT-4.

Once the person tuning is use to using the software how long should it take to do the tune? For example an SRT-4 with stage 2, CAI, Kinetic WGA.

It will vary. Could be an hour, 2 hours or even 3 hours. I was told to expect to pay for 3 hours dyno time for a full CMR tune.

Thats what I'd expect. About $300 for the tune and $300 for the dyno.

Well the shop up here charges $150/hr for the dyno and $50/hour for the tech. CDN $$ so that is alittle better then lol

It really depends on what you WANT out of it.

If you want stock-like drivability out of a BIG cam, big (untested by that tuner) injectors, stroker... it could be a full day. 4-5 hours of road tuning, tweaking, etc with an hour or three on the dyno. If you are boosting a hemi or going SEVERE on an SRT4... Multiply by 3 and increase the units.

If you are just looking to tweak up a mildly modded vehicle on the rollers... 1-2 hours might be more than enough.

What shop in Langley? I'm not having any luck doing my own tuner here in Nimpo Lake BC. 7137 Hemi ram

I'd say that I hope answers come within the next few days. I emptied my cats and can't find any instructions to turn off my secondary oxy sensors or make a custom tune or if someone else is supposed to make the custom tune?

Or you could just email 392stu for a tune. He is like a God Among Pimps in the tuning world.
