Annoying limitation of E40 software

The E40 software will only recognize a predator on com ports 1-5. Most of my com ports are above 5 and on my laptop the lowest one is 8. Most modern computers have between 10 and 20 com ports of various types.

What can we do to make E40 recognize more ports? If it was written in .net that is very very easy to use wmi to detect the com ports on a computer and populate the drop down box with them. I have done something similar with network adapters using c#.

THis is starting to annoy me as I have one computer that I can use the software on out of 4. I cant take my laptop and take logs, i have to take a log, drive home, export log to home computer, then repeat until i get the number of logs i want.

CAn we get that changed or can I get the source code so I can change it?

windows just automatically assigns them... most likely, your com ports 1-5 are NOT all used... there's no way...

on your PC, go into the Windows Device Manager and select the cable you're using for the predator, and just change the com port for it - assign it a new com port number... easy as that.

and no, their stuff is not written in .net... and no, you won't get the source code for it

the E40 app will go away once they are done updating all the tools/software to the newest versions/revisions... then, everything will just use the DSDownloader app to import/export tunes... so, they won't be updating the E40 app for that issue, since it's going to go away eventually anyway...
