RE: Issue returning to stock after 93octane tune flash
I truly wish you could better tell me why this matters this much.
We have been doing things this way for a while now, and never has it ever been such an issue to any of our customers...
Although you say it is not relevant, is the reason behind this to get your other 'tuner' (PRP?) to work?
Surely you can understand our lack of understanding as to how or why there is a problem, considering the Predator works fine, and is doing everything it was designed to do.

Wow, I didn't know this... I've got to agree here that if you tell the Predator to restore the original tune it should restore the original tune using the original CALID.mikel wrote:Well, if the Predator put you on that calibration, it is what is needed for your year/make/model.
We have never hid the fact that we may change your PCMs calid, and I dont see any other way for you to update the calid other than a visit to a dealer.
That's just my 2 cents though...
RE: Issue returning to stock after 93octane tune flash
The only reason I did not say what other product is not working is because I am not trying to advertise on your forum and I honestly don't see why it matters. But yes it is my PRP not working. I have already contacted SCT to get a fix and I know it is not an issue with the xcal2 because I am able to flash my other pcm with it with no problems.
I honestly do not see why I am catching so much resistance from Diablo over this. Even SCT has the ability to send out restore flashes for the CAL IDs that their products support, and I find it hard to believe that Diablo cannot do the same. I am not asking for anything more than my pcm to be "returned to stock" as advertised from the predator.

Because simply blasting a calid into the PCM is not how it is supposed to be done.jsachnet wrote:The only reason I did not say what other product is not working is because I am not trying to advertise on your forum and I honestly don't see why it matters. Just because they can do that does not make it right.

OK, our engineers have looked into this, and have confirmed that this could not have happened with the Predator.
The Predator only supports ONE calid for the stage PCMs and it can not/will not change it.
Considering that your XCal DOES have the ability to completely change the calid, I honestly feel the Predator did not do anything that it should not have.

RE: Re: RE: Issue returning to stock after 93octane tune fla
So here is a quick synopsis, correct me if I am wrong.
I ask for help about an issue with the predator changing my cal id, you say yes your product changes the cal id to a more preferable one. I ask to be returned to my original state because I am not satisfied with the change. You now claim that the predator cannot change the cal id and accuse me of some form of dishonesty and try to place blame elsewhere.
Does that sound correct?

Nope, way off base.
I confirmed that on certain applications, that we do prompt you to do calibration updates, which will change your calid.
After looking into it further (in fact, I got a call from our former SRT4 tuner this morning to let me know this could not have happened with the Predator, 5 minutes before one of our engineers confirmed the same thing on the bench) we realized that being a stage PCM, there are NO calibration updates that are even available to do this.
If you did not download a calibration update through DSDL, (which I assume you have never done), then this could not have happened, as the Predator itself does not have the ability to change your calid.

Re: RE: Issue returning to stock after 93octane tune flash
The thing I don't get here is the error message you're getting from the XCal really shouldn't have anything to do with the CALID...jsachnet wrote:The only reason I did not say what other product is not working is because I am not trying to advertise on your forum and I honestly don't see why it matters. Out of curiosity, have you flashed a modified tune into the PCM via the Predator and attempted to use the XCal at that point? Or are you stricting trying to flash using the XCal after the Predator has restored the original tune?
RE: Re: RE: Issue returning to stock after 93octane tune fla
I'm just following along here and don't have a stake in this... here's my translation:
1) The Predator *can* change the calid on some cars/pcms. For the 5.7L hemis for example. It's based on the PCM.
2) To change the calid you have to support the calid you're changing to. locations of items/values in the pcm image, etc.
3) It has always been the case that changing the calid is not backward compatible. For example, predator CROM version 9rxx supports some calid. You would need to have your pcm on that calid. A later version might support a later calid. If you updated the predator to the later version and then updated your pcm to the matching calid you cannot go back to the earlier predator CROM version (or calid).
4) If there is a calid mismatch the predator will require you to update the car/pcm before it will operate on it. *after* the calid is resolved the predator will upload the "original backup". This is what is used to "restore to original/stock". This would be the new calid.
5) What Mike is saying above is that the Predator only supports a single calid for your car/pcm and does not update calids (for your car). Implication is that the predator either works with your car as is, or it doesn't. If it doesn't there is no option to update the calid, it just won't work with it.
That's my interpretation so far (how'd i do?). Just sort of sounded like there was a bit of confusion here at the end. Like I said above, I have no stake and don't care about the outcome, just interested in how things work.

All I need to know is whether or not Diablo can restore the original CAL ID either through a restore flash or by me sending my pcm to you. This is getting off topic as the sct has nothing to do with what happen to my pcm, it is only invloved with the side effect because it did not cause the pcm to change CAL ID's.
I will put it in the mail tommorow and pay for the shipping to and from. i just want my car the way it was before I plugged the predator in. I'll even send you the predator back and you guys can keep it. I just want to go back....

Unfortuantely I can not offer a reflash of your PCM since we are confident the Predator could not have done what you are saying.jsachnet wrote:All I need to know is whether or not Diablo can restore the original CAL ID either through a restore flash or by me sending my pcm to you. Considering your other tuning device (which you seem to be convinced has nothing to do with this) HAS the ability to change the calid of your PCM, I would look there first.
Best bet would be to get it to a dealer for a reflash or see if there is anyone in your area with access to a StarScan and have them take care of it for you.
Thanks

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Issue returning to stock after 93octane
Spent the last few hours on the phone with a few interesting finds
Called SCT and they do not support 04510055AC. Their Advantage software only supports 04510055AD and 04510055AE, they have no base image or strategy for the 04510055AC flash so there is absolutely no way that I somehow flashed that onto my pcm using an SCT product.
I also called the dealer and had them check the service records and they show that when the Stage 1 was installed that it was in fact flashed with 04510055AD.
Knowing this, I can only ask again but maybe I should rephrase my question so that I don't receive a round-a-bout answer...
Does Diablo have the ability to restore a flash, either due to a tool malfunction or user error that resulted in a bad flash.
