I have an 2002 silverado 5.3 with u7198 and I was wondering if removing the cats would cause any loss in power due to a loss of back pressure?
I would to take them off and replace them with pipe but not if I will lose any power

You won't really gain anything by taking the cats off. The stock cats are rated for up to 550hp so deleting them will just give you the sound. If that is what you are looking for then by all means go for it, but there really isn't any benifit from it. Not to mention your state inspection will be impossible to pass.

well all I'm going for is sound and oklahoma doesn't have inspection I'm only worried about loss of low end torque

As long as you aren't running straight pipes without mufflers, you should have enough back pressure.
