No text after plugging in? Would update help?

Hello there,
2005 Dodge Magnum RT
Predator U7135

After plugging in the Predator into the port in the car the unit lights up and there is no text at all. I already read these forums and tried changing the contrast, that does not help. I know the unit could be faulty, however I'm wondering if an update would help at all (can't try it as I don't have the serial cable yet)? Or should there be something on the display regardless, a message or a code? I'm not turning the key into the ON position by the way, I'm not supposed to unless prompted, correct?

Looks like the unit needs ot be sent in for repairs.

Should I try exchanging it from the dealer first (Lordco here in Canada)? Would they swap it?

yes, try it with them first... it's a defective unit so they should exchange it for you...

plus it will be faster than if you have to ship it to diablo yourself to get it fixed...
