cant get it to hook up to pc laptop

i have a U7146 predator for my 2002 mustang gt and i cannot get it to link up to either of my computers, it powers up and installs the driver from the disc i recieved for the usb connection but on the dsdownloader it cannot read the predator, i matched the com and serial baud and tried downloading the driver for vista from the website but that doesnt work either!!!!!!!!!

Vista computers are very finicky about the drivers they use. Just because the drivers are listed as vista drivers they all do not work on all machines. Here are some vista drivers that we have had very good luck with.

I have Vista Ultimate- actually 64 bit. I had tons of issues with the Sewell USB to Serial cable drivers from your website. Everything is working fine now. My fix to all issues:

Went to Sewelldirect.com---> http://sewelldirect.com/usbtoserial.asp


1) Go down to the heading that says "Learn more" on the left side of the page. Then click on specifications. Go down to Vista 32-bit drivers on the next page that pops up.

2) Download the Vista 32-bit driver

3) Reboot your computer

It worked to find the Predator even though I'm 64 bit. This also worked on the Vista 32 bit machine.

Once the drivers were installed the predator was immediately found.

This fixed everything.

It worked for many others running the Vista system also.

i cant get rid of the driver in there already?

Go into your control panel. There will be a heading that says install or remove programs. Go into this list and find the drivers you are trying to remove. There will be a button that will uninstall programs.

yea i dont see any drivers in there. is there something wrong with it? its not connecting to any of my computers at all.

Dsdownloader will not acknowledge a connection till you actually try to transfer a file. Have you gone that far?

Wrong, it should recognize that the tool is installed before trying to transfer any files. If you are not seeing any drivers in the "Add or remove programs" section, the last time you tried to install the driver, it probably didn't install properly.
