I'm just following up with an earlier question as to when you plan on releasing a programmer for the 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 w/5.7 Hemi 4x4? I'm interested in becomming one of your testers on this as well.
Currently I'm all stock parts. (I'm not sure how you do the tester thing, I'm in Helena, Montana.) And have plenty of time to do a thurough testing and even get the rig into the hills (literally any direction I travel, i'm in the middle of the Rocky's) and do some real world towing tests.
Some soon future upgrades I'm looking into are a Magnaflow dual 3" exhaust, A&E Cool Air Intake and throttle body spacer, performance plugs and low resistance plug wires .
I'm just so stoked to get programmer as your programmers rock compared to the competition! Hypertech, SuperChips, BullyDog, etc... all are a joke compared to the live customization features you offer on your programmers. As they offer next to none!
Anyhow, do you have any ETA's on the 5.7Hemi Programmer availability? I'm sure you'll work on the cars 5.7Hemi's but trust me when I say, I've got friends who are waiting for you to release the truck models. Any info is great!
Thanks
Dan

RE: 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi Programmer - ETA?
We have a brand new Quad cab Hemi in the shop sheduled to see the dyno Monday morning.
I would imagine that most Hemi applications will be supported in the same release, as to when that will be I cannot yet say.
We need to put the necessary time in to R&D to be sure this is the best tool you can buy for your new Hemi.
Stay tuned...
Thanks

Curious about how plans to handl the MDS system?
The 07 and a few prior years of Dodge Truck Hemi's have an Multi-Displacement System (MDS).
Click on that MDS and you'll see a dodge animation of what I'm talking about directly off Dodge's web site.
Basically the system deactivates four cylinders during optimal driving conditions making the V8 into a fuel saving V4 during highway cruising and then when power again is needed, such as for passing, the other 4 cylinders kick back into action giving you that desired horse power for passing.
I'm really curious to see how the Predator is going to react/treat that system. Quite a few programmers out there completely deactivate that system.
OMG I'm shocked they would disable such a great factory feature! I'm hoping that Predator will somehow be able to provide a tune that takes advantage of that system as well, without de-activating it.
Do you have any ideas what the plan is for that or wil the predator's tuning disable that money saving feature like all the other brands of programmers seem to do?
Also, my truck has 3 options concerning it's overdrive performance settings that are available directly off my shift lever (ya it's an automatic). (I believe this is a standard feature on all 07 Dodge Trucks.)
5.7 Hemi's and I was wondering if the Predator will affect those, or will it replace those with more optimal settings? Or will it just disable those?
I know it's probably expensive for a company to create programmers for specifics such as this. But I'm hoping that features like these don't go to the waste site in the persuit of just getting a programmer to market. We all love to get the max out of our engine, we all also love to keep some of it's gas and money saving features on a day to day basis.
Thanks for your time, sorry if the questions seem moronic.

- Basically, if I push the button once on the end of the shift lever then my over drive is disabled until I press it again.
- If I press it once more then the overdrive is re-enabled but the vehicle is in towing mode which is more suited for towing/hauling giving me more torque for when I need it, I believe in this mode the MDS is also de-activated.
- If I press it the third time I'm back to factory daily default driving with both the over drive and MDS enabled.

Reply to MDS Question Reposted
I had to ask this question in another message thread to get the answer, so I'm posting Diablo's response here to show it has been followed up on:
--------------------------------------------------
In reference to the MDS, Johan would have to describe the specifics, but it is similar to the DOD (displacement on demand) system currently used by GM in cars and trucks.
Thus far our experiences with that system so far have been interesting.
On the LS4 front wheel drive cars (Impala SS, Monte Carlo SS) we offer the user the option of the tune with or without the DOD enabled.
So far, overwhelming response has shown the non DOD tune to be the favorite, and they generally report up to 2 mpg gains over the stock tune with DOD engaged. It would seem that the benefits of a proper tune outweigh even these whiz-bang features from the OEMs...
We recently sent out a few tunes to some 07 GM truck owners to disable the DOD system, as the default tunes for those trucks leave it enabled. I do not knoow if we have heard back from them as of yet.
So for now, it is still too early to say for sure if this will be available in the Predator or not, but we will experiment with it.
As for your question about the shift modes, again this would appear similar to the GM tow/haul mode system, but again it is too early to say how these systems will work.
I will say that none of them will be disabled, so do not worry about that.
Thanks

RE: Re: Reply to MDS Question Reposted
why not show the entire graph? I would like to see the graph up to 5800 rpm.
RE: Re: Reply to MDS Question Reposted
Hey at least they got a lower RPM than my dyno... lol
Well only on the tuned run, the stock run isn't even WOT til 4300 RPM's
The A/F does look pretty good, about .2 leaner than my superchips ran, but I would still like to see it a bit leaner, especially it being after the cats. I guess thats what custom tunes are for.

The power is obviously falling off after 5000 rpm...spinning it any higher would be a waste of time.PPP-Tech wrote:why not show the entire graph? I would like to see the graph up to 5800 rpm.

Re: RE: Re: Reply to MDS Question Reposted
My hemi was still within 1% of peak power @ 5700 RPM and 2% @ 5800 RPM... I think it would be worth showing. Your gains in the 5000 RPM area are still nice, but your statement would give someonethe impression that you are not worried about tuning that high...mikel wrote:The power is obviously falling off after 5000 rpm...spinning it any higher would be a waste of time.PPP-Tech wrote:why not show the entire graph?
