Suggestions on critical upgrades for my truck

Post by ranger_dog »

Hello everyone,

I am almost ready to go home from a year's deployment overseas and I am looking forward to getting back into my truck! I would like to ask what upgrades might be really good ideas for my truck based on your experiences. I am not looking to make any more power, but instead, I am looking for reliability, durability, drivability, and fuel economy. In current form the truck has a modified intake system, quadzilla boost fooler, Predator/Puck stack, and cat back 4" dual exhaust. I don't hammer on the truck at all, it's a daily driver and hauler of a 4 horse trailer for our summer entertainment. So let me hear your ideas, but please keep cost and focus on what I use it for. Thanks for the help.
Thanks, Ed 06 2500 QC 4x4 CTD, Auto, 3.73's, 275/70/18's, Thuren/Carli/Bilstein susp mods, 4 inch duals, K&N Filter, Modified intake, Predator & Puck, Quadzilla Cmdr & boost fooler, more to come.

Dont know alot about the auto's but I know a valve body would be a good idea, or pull out the auto and put in a G-56 with a DD 3250 SB and have no worries

For the record, I am not planning to give up the auto for a stick. They have their place, but not in my garage as a daily driver. Besides for the money it would cost to find and swap one out (guessing here) I could have a built Goerend Tranny installed and have no worries. So we've established the transmission upgrades as a given for the automatic (I am holding out for an upgrade to a built 68RFE) but what else? Just wondering if any of the so many things I see people doing to their trucks are necessary or good values for the $$$.

well considering the mods you have already I would say you should be good to go if your not interested in doing any tranny work. I suppose any thing else would be cosmetic or power adding.
