problem with update

I just received my Predator U7135 (s/n 216660) today. Before connecting it to my one week old 2009 Challenger R/T, I wanted to make sure that I had the latest update installed on the tuner.

I went to the download section and downloaded 9r18. My predator came with 9r17 already installed. While trying to update to r18, it got to "writing packet 7747 of 8587" and stopped. The screen on the Predator read "unable to store CROM image" and locked up. Naturally, the update didn't take. When trying to turn the Predator back on, it gave me "application is missing or corrupt". Well, I go back to the download section of the forums, only to discover that the only two releases available are 9r12 (which I downloaded to make sure that I was doing things correctly) and the previously mentioned 9r18 (which my unit will not take). Now, I am stuck with a brand new tuner that will no longer be of any use to me on my 2009 Challenger.

My main point of contention is as follows:

1) Why won't my tuner accept 9r18 (especially since the dang thing is brand new)?

2) Why doesn't Diablo list all previous releases for downloads?

Any help will be much appreciated!!!

Oh yeah, one other thing! How can I get a copy of crom 9r17?

I had the wrong number listed for the serial number of the unit. The correct serial number is d007063. Hardware: univ_rev2 born 01/26/2009

Thanks for the link! I downloaded 9r17, but for some reason, the Predator still won't take the crom. Same error message as with 9r18, even at the same spot - packet 7747 !! Now I am left wondering why the tuner won't even accept the same revision (9r17) that it came with? ??

man, that is weird. i really don't know what else to tell ya. i guess call them up when they're open and they'll talk you through it.

emailing you a crom to load to fix this, then you can load the 9r18 after that.

Thanks for the quick response Mike. The new crom fixed the issue. I have the car programmed with the 93 tune now. About to take it out to lunch and see how it does!!

Man, this is an epidemic! Ditto -- brand new Predator with update 17. Installed long tubes, CAI, etc. and tried to go to 18 thinking that it was the right thing to do to run 93 octane. Wrong-o. I can go all the way back to 12 but agree with PSM4NH3 that is awfully far digression from the 17 that the Predator came with. Can't somebody post the fix for "unable to store crom image" so we can all fix this issue? I was just planning to head out to a big car show and now I'm hosed. Car can't run as stock because of the rear 02s needing to be off. Help, please....

MIke, new to owning a predator..and looking forward to using it. I recently tried to update my predator and received the same update problem as the others describing on this page. Could you Email me a valid crom or cd fix to solve this problem for me.
all croms except 12 stop at 7747...is it a memory issue?

vehicle is a 2006 Magnum SRT-8. 6.1L

I'm in the same boat. I've got a 2005 300c? Had to call and get me off the floor (bummed). They only told me to go back to the 9r12 and that would do it. To back up a little I ran the 9r17 and had issues right away. I got it to change fan temps and easy changes to the stock tune. Things where ok. Then I tried the 91 no CAI (only have magnaflow catback). It sounded bad at idle I got out of the driveway and went right back in. It sounded like it was missing. So I blamed myself (even though I read everything I could for two day while waiting for it to come.) So I reinstalled stock tune and redid the minor changes I had done. I drove it to a Doc's office and my cruise control stopped working, coincidence? I have to start my own thread or call on it Monday!
That night I tried to change some of the shift firmness, and something else and both times it said I needed updates. Thats when I thought I would be sending it back to the company for a reprgramming! No one to call till morning. I was Sick!!
So I'd like to update mine as well.
