87 tune

Post by dmac »

I have an '05 SSR with a 7191 tuner ver 07. I just removed the 91 tune and wanted to try 87 tune but it doesn't show up on the tuner. It has diablo tune, 91 tune and factory hp tune. Is the factory hp tune the same as 87 tune? I put in diablo tune 'cause I wasn't sure. Is 87 octane ok with diablo tune? thanks........

no, Factory HP Tune is not the same as a Diablo, 91 or an 87 tune. Factory HP Tune just allows you to modify the settings/parameters of the current tune that is in your SSR - that's it. If you didn't install any tune, and went to modify parameters in the Factory HP Tune and then install it, all you're doing is changing the parameters of the stock/OEM tune.

Diablo Tune is for 93 octane.

91 Octane Tune is (obviously) for 91 octane

Factory HP Tune just allows you to modify whatever tune is currently in your vehicle.

there probably isn't an 87 tune for your particular vehicle, since the SSR is supposed to use premium in it anyway.

Running 87 in that would severely hinder the performance, create knock, etc etc... stick with 91 (at least) or 93 (better).

Thanks Monte, but I thought I saw an 87 tune somewhere. Hey Mike or Johan. What's the '87 tune?? I've got the Diablo in now with 87 octane. I'll change it to stock if no modified 87 tune...

Where'd you see an 87 tune? In the user manual?? if so, then yes - there is an 87 tune available for CERTAIN vehicles... but your SSR is not one of them.

The user manual is just a general guide to cover all supported vehicles for the U7191 Predator... but depending on which vehicle you have, that will determine which options are available to you and for your SPECIFIC vehicle.

yes - the Diablo Tune is made for 93 octane gas... the difference between the Diablo (93) tune and the 91 tune is the amount of spark/timing that's added. The Diablo (93) tune has more spark/timing advance... the 91 tune uses the default stock/OEM spark/timing...

no problem man! ;-)

The 87 octane tunes are only offered in the truck applications.
The LS2 in your SSR has a 10.9:1 compression ratio, making 87 octane not an option.
