Torque Management

Post by zz4camaro1980 »

I have a 2001 Camaro SS w/ M6, I just bought a U1798 for.

Two questions:

When I remove the torque management I feel no difference to the car in any way, it still feels like it bogs down/hesitates at lower rpm (cannot spin the tires in first gear from a roll w/ clutch fully engaged). And traction control is off.

Two, when I install the performance tune I get a noticable knock above 5000 rpm. I have reinstalled the factory tune w/ no issues but I was wondering exactly what the performance tune changes (timing, fuel curves, etc.?)

You should not be getting a knock. What kind of gas are you using?

Leans the air-fuel ratio to make power. LS1s, I had a 2000 WS6 T/A, have good knock sensors, so you shouldn't be getting any knock. I don't think the tune advances timing, but not sure. Can you use the tool to check and see if knock retard is taking place? Otherwise, the Diablo guys will have to step in. 93 Octane should be all you need.

leaning it out could be causing the knock, when I had the car dynoed it was running at 13.5:1 A/F at Wide Open Throttle. Thats as lean as id like to see, taking anymore fuel out could be dangerous.

These tunes change the timing and fuel curves.
I have run this tune in my 99 Z28 with no issues...just be sure you are using quality branded 93 octane fuel.
