Okay, got the predator and CAI in the other day. Did the backup and loaded the C&L racer tune, there was only one that said 91 octane (no 87 or 93 octane options). I was a little worried about detonation since I had a full tank of 87 in there.
To be honest I've often had a little trouble with ping at high RPMs and WOT in the past with stock intake and tune so I was considering modifying the advance curve. But now with the new CAI the tuner was necessary.
1st question:
What do I need to change under custom tunes to allow this tune to run 87 octane? My guess is some more advance but I have no idea exactly how to allow 87 on the C&L racer tune.
2nd question:
I also saved the factory tune to the hard drive on my laptop without any problems, but it has a very cryptic file name. Can I just rename the file to "factory_default_tune" or something more friendly?

RE: newbie questions
If you are running the 91 octane tune on 87 octane, pull 2-3 degrees of timing out.

Wow, thanks for the fast reply!
Do I do that across both RPM ranges?

Yes, that way the entire spark range is covered.

RE: newbie questions
If your planning on using at least 91 octane fuel in the vehicle, then just leave the tune uninstalled until you put that fuel in the vehicle.
No, i don't work here.
RE: newbie questions
I just upgraded the crom to the 9r04 and I need to adjust for my new tires ( 295/45-18 ), I was able to calculate that to be 708.6 and was going to modify the C&L Racer tune but saw the list of tunes in there are different now.
I understand the tire revs per mile part just fine but was wondering about the new tunes.
Which of the new tunes should I use for the C&L racer, and should I keep the 2 degrees out if I prefer using the cheap gas?

Yes, if you are still using the cheaper fuel, then retard the timing by 2* and you should be fine. Choose the 91oct tune and add ~6% to the maf curve to compensate for the C&L.
