Base Line timing question

Post by Raven3416 »

This maybe a question discussed elsewhere that I haven't ran across yet, but does anyone know what the base line timing increase for the 91 and 93 canned tune is?

I have done a lot of datalogging of my stock tune and the 91 tune. Most of the the time there was never a difference in max timing. 23.5 max spark at WOT shifting at 5600rpm on the the stock tune and 91 tune. I have never been able to prove or see any difference in timing from the Predator. If there is a difference in timing at WOT at peak RPMs, I could not see it in the logs. On a few rare occasions I have seen a momentary spike of 24.0 spark at 5600rpm. If I raised my rpm shift points above 5600rpm I would see 24.0 spark more often.

I have asked/posted similar questions as yours but never received a clear answer from Diablo. I don't think they like to explain in too much detail how their tunes work. Proprietary info, golden jewels, stuff like that.

I could not see any difference either. I haven't done a lot of logging, so I'm not so sure what it is suppose to be, but no matter which tune I use I get between 8 and 14 degrees of retard on the 91 and 93 cai tune between 3 and 5 k rpm I just added 2% fuel across the board and I'm going to do some logging over the weekend, so I'll let you know what happens. Thanks for the help. I'll check to see if mine is the same.

8-14 deg of retard is a lot, it is possible that your functional hood scoops (if fed to the CAI) is leaning you out quite a bit.

Johan no the hood scoops are from the SRT8, and they just dump fresh air into the engine compartment. They are not ducted into the CAI, so I reinstalled the 93 canned tune, added 2% fuel across the board and pulled one log. The knock retard was down to 3 to 5* so I went to BMC Performance and got a catch can and a 180* stat. I'll log it tomarrow and let you know whats happening. The crazy surging and shift issues returned this afternoon as well so I'm going to disable the MDS and see what happens. You have any other ideas that may help.

Johan below is a couple of threads of some people that are having some real issues with the tunes including myself. Can you please take a look at them and let us know what you think. I have heard of people having the same issues on other forums as well. Just a thought, but I live close to you, so if you want to check my car out it wouldn't be a problem. It may fix a lot of peoples issues. Thanks
