cmr_dat pid loading with Predator 05 Mustang GT CL

Post by billki »

How can I get the pids to load into PC using the CL version of Predator?
I can log data with predator and then load log file but it iis pretty useless without pids. Following directions doesn't seem to work and CL version doesn't have setting for streaming. Is this not supported with CL version? Thanks

Forgot to put in, I have a CL7140. I am assuming that it doesn't support live streaming since that setting doesn't appear. If that is the case, is there a way to set up the PIDS manually? Thanks for you thoughts :-)

No Live Streaming.

Are you saying you can upload the log file but when you open it in DAT Viewer the PID labels are missing?

yes, exactly. Appreciate your thoughts on this. When I try to load PIDs following directions in the pdf file manual, I have no setting on the CL7140 for live streaming data. So my question is, is there another way to get PIDs loaded into tuner? Thanks

Sorry bud, I think we're misunderstanding eachother.

What I meant was the Live streaming does not work properly at the moment. However you can datalog with the Predator then hook it up to your PC when done and upload the last log file to your PC and view it in the software. Does this help? Or am I out to lunch again?!

Thanks,

No worries. I can log data with Predator and upload the log file to the PC and view it. The graph's are nice but without PIDs it is hard to tell what I am looking at. :-) Again, it could surely be operator head space on my part , hope this helps. Thanks for your patience.

New plan of attack, Download the new DataViewer here...http://www.diablosport.com/index.php?na ... pic&t=2335
You should be able to upload logs from the Predator with your old Dat Viewer and then open them with this stuff. It is a Beta version so I believe it cannot upload with your current revision, only the part #'s listed. Give it a try! If it works that software is wayyyy better and will be supported for issues much sooner. The stuff you are using will be phased out as soon as the new stuff is complete.

The old log files (as saved to your PC) are not compatible with the new viewer. But you should be able to download from the Predator to the new viewer and create new logs with the new viewer.

Here is what I did. I downloaded the new viewer beta from site. I had some log files already loaded from CMR_DAT so I tried to open them. It failed to load and gave following on viewer screen:
Critical Failure:
Log File Error
Log file was an invalid format.

I even tried the sample log file that came with CMR_DAT program and got same error.

What I will try next:
Since when I start new viewer it does say that CL7140 is supported, I will try to load log files using the new viewer. If the viewer software can parse the log data it should work. If not, back to square one. :-) Appreciate your thoughts and will let you know how this works out when I try it. BTW - The new viewer is way cool! I did try out the viewer sample files and you are right, much better than old viewer. Thanks again for your help and will let you know how it goes.

Yeah, sorry about that. The new viewer uses a more complex file format. And the OEM tools (CL7140) lag behind the Diablo tools (U7140) in releases.

Lesson learned for me, don't buy the OEM tool next time. :-) No worries, I will keep an eye out for update for CL7140 updates, thanks again.
