how many pid's are you logging? the less pid's you log, the faster the sample rate is.
Had 52 PID's selected, thanks will try again with less.
white_lightning wrote: is there a previous Crom that did not have this effect on your truck? if yes, I suggest re-installing that Crom in your tuner.

there are several Croms at the bottom of the page on this site, free download:

With 9R06, the truck also had the shaking from time to time but I could drive weeks without a bad shift occurring. When using the electronic gear select to force a downshift 9R06 did also had the shaking. I never complained since their is no need to make a manual down shift from second prime to second gear since it's almost the same gear ratio. It's just a easy way to reproduce the shaking since the stock tune doesn't shake when making that shift.

Will give 9R06 a try. Guess the more info Johan gets the faster he can find what's causing it.
52 PID's would be a slow sample rate. I suggest asking Johan what PID's he needs to diagnose this issue. probably 10 or less PID's would have enough info.

9r06 could be a good option. did you ever use 9t06d? 9t06d was a good tune on my truck.

fortunately, my '05 is doing good on 9r09. in some ways I liked 9t09e better though. 9t09e worked smoother with the downloader. 1 less step to load a custom tune.

here's a general list of PID's johan asks for when he does tunes for people... so I'd go by this list at least, and then if he asks you for any additional tranny-specific parameters...

sbarbs wrote:Reply, I'm starting to think that its not a tuning issue. I personally believe the 545rfe can't handle the horsepower being thrown at it. Mine does this as well with the tune, but doesnt with stock tune. I think a transmission upgrade with kolene steels and clutches is the way to go. Mine simply feels like it is slipping. Even with the line pressure booster, i don't think the stock clutch material can hold the horsepower. The reason why there is so much TM put into this motor. The trans, simply cant handle the potential power of this engine.
this is possible, but a lot of trucks are throwing more hp & tq at the 545rfe trans than a stock '09 or '10 without shifting issues, including mine. my '05 5.7 Hemi Ram is @ about 350 RWHP / 450 FWHP with stock clutches and does not have the shudders & other issues some on this thread are having.

'09's & '10's have upgraded clutches from the factory vs Gen III trucks. got that info straight from Jerry @ Sharadon performance. he told me stock Gen IV Rams have high-energy Green clutches in the 545rfe for 4th & o/d if I remember right.

good list for PCM tuning, but Johan may need tranny-specific parameters for this problem, and may not need some of the PID's on the list for this issue.

Loaded u7137-9t06d_export.crom with the 87oct tune with 5% added fuel over the entire rpm range. Used this tune in 2009 for month's with this setting and never noticed any shakings/slipping from the transmission. Did a full PCM reset (hooked up my Starscan and did a reset of all Adaptive memory of the PCM). Loaded the tune and well... it's shaking and slipping when going WOT from cruising at 40-65mph and shifting into second gear. Not as bad as 9R09 but it's doing it now and didn't do it a year ago...

I am curious to see what a tune with stock tm would do, want to try that? Or maybe one stock and then one with more tm in it than the canned tune.

Just looked through the r06 tunes directory.
Can you try this file and see how it does, part throttle shifts should be kind of sort of back to stock here, firmness wise.

So I've been trying to get the time to load the tune and get the info I need to assist you guys with testing, but I haven't had the nearly 20 minutes needed just to install the program, much less the rest of the time needed to complete gathering the info since my last post.
Something interesting happened this morning though... I was behind a car doing 40 in a 55. When I got the chance, I put it on the floor to pass. When I did this, I experienced the same issue. The best way I can describe it is that it feels like I'm driving over a cattle guard. It was shuttering and causing the whole truck to vibrate horribly.

...and the kicker is that there is only the stock program in my truck right now. Now the truck was possibly a little cold. It was 36 deg this morning and the it had been running about 20 min when this happened.

This made me think... I had the current program in my truck for a while before I started noticing the issue. I had my truck in for service to program a new RBZ radio I had just installed just before I noticed it happening. I was told there were a couple of safety recalls (one about the brakes, and one about the AC). At least one of these (or the work I had done) required that the PCM be re-flashed by the dealer according to the invoice.

This may be a programming issue with a new dealer firmware revision if I'm correct... Now programming the truck with the predator makes it worse, but I’m pretty sure it’s just allowing it to be more noticeable by limiting the trucks torque management capabilities.

So my question is this... You guys that are having this issue, have you have your trucks in for service since around Aug 2010?

Majefski:

I had mine to the dealer for the same recalls and reflash & never had an issue. You might want to check with the dealer to make sure it was done correctly.

Thanks Johan, will give it a test tomorrow.

Yea truck is still shaking between 40-60mph. The part throttle shifting seems better. Not to sure about the wot shifts from 1-2 or 2-3 did have enough open road to run it a lot today. But driving 40-60 then going wot has pretty violent shaking still. But it does seem exactly like a slipping feeling. I hope with keep testing this issue with all the tunes isn't going to mess up our transmissions though. I would hate to have this thing in the shop for that long of a period.

Drove a 80mile trip, it's still shaking sometimes between 40-60mph. It feels like the tune is a lot nicer to the transmission. Shifts are a only little bit slower, seems to be a lot more traction control left in the tune. Like the stock tune the truck stay's longer in the fourth gear when slowing down and speeding up again.

When going WOT at 45mph you can feel that their are multiple shifts, i think it starts shifting back to the fourth gear before shifting to second prime and then second gear, the shaking starts when the shift to second gear is made.

Offtopic, this would be a nice winter tune. I would love to have a 87oct version of this tune to use when going up the mountains in Austria.

Johan,
The custom tune you wrote for me (page 1 of this post) really improved the shifting on my 2008 Ram Hemi. I was wondering if you could do the same for the 87 tune.

Sorry to post up again on this 4th Gen topic, but it seems like a similar issue on my 3rd Gen Ram.

I hope there is a fix for this in the near future...

U7137, 9R09 Crom, 2010 Ram SLT, Big Horn

Still running my stock tune for fear of hurting my truck from the tranny shaking. Hope a fix is on the horizion!! :(

Johan, made a appointment with a transmission repair shop. Friday 17 Dec they are going to test what causes the shaking during the downshift with the tune loaded.

If you want me to let them do some testing with a custom tune just send me one. Please only one with the stock rpm limitor enable (5800rpm), since pcm_68059438ab_perf_91oct_bonza_005.drg goes above the 6000 rpm when keeping it WOT during the shaking downshift. Engineer was thinking about a line pressure problem or the second prime gear failing to disengage correctly.
