because I have done lots of research on Mileage. lots

the only ones I ever see do over 20.5 are quad cab 2wd or standard cab 4wd.
standard trannies.

and none of them ever say they got great mileage above 2k rpms.

I am on about 8 different diesel sites the majority of them being dodge sites and read mileage test on all of them. They all clearly say that 2k is the max if you want good fuel mileage. the ones getting better than 20.5 arent 4x4 quad cab
and according to myth busters (lol) and some mileage testers on DTR and TDR the toneau cover cant offset its own cost by the mileage savings

if his truck was slightly different and he said he kept it at 2k I could see it.

I know u cant believe and or dont want to believe it but I know what I did and stand behind it, if you are ever in the central TX area i can take for a 600 mile cruise to show u...lol ( we may need alot beer for that didtance) but really it is leggit! I only post thing that i know and have had personal experiance with that is why I fell confident enough to put here and the other site (CF) that i am on all the time, now to acheive these number it was a very boring ride to say the least and the part on TX I was in wasnt very hilly....so bash all u want but i am a firm believer in this product for fuel MPG increases!

I am not bashing. I am looking at the facts. I have never seen anyone report the MPG you are stating with what you ran. thats all.

i know there are lots of people that give out bad info but i wouldnt post it if it werent true, i know its hard to belive but it really happened to me, i forget what DP issue it was but there were several trucks and they did a test of mpgs and one chevy LMM got over 35mpg and several 4x4 dodges getting over 25mpgs so it can be done... we can go back and forth on this to no end...bottom line is this what happend to me! i hope u get close to the same results, i will do another test with the 33" tires and see if it drops(which i am sure it will) or rises, and keep you guys informed.

Personally I call BS. I think you guys are forgetting about one fillup in there. I drive a bit heavy footed but I in no way believe you are going to double my fuel milage with the same truck. The best I have ever done is 19.6 mpg (imp) not US gal. and I thought I was driving like an old granny from Calgary to Vancouver. Yes its mountains, and yes I did pass ppl but to say you get 30mil to the gal with a 7000lbs truck that has over 400hp. hmmm dont' think so. I don't doubt others get better milage then me, as that always seems to be the case. I had a hard time getting good milage with our jetta (gasser 1.8 turbo) That only would get about 35 highway. And then to say that you had the rpm over 2000. ya right. 1800 max without ever stoppin it to pass would probably yeild the best results. Something I never seem to be able to do on highway driving.

Here's an older post of mine, I duplicate these results on a regular basis with all the field service trips I do and that trip computer is so far out it's not even funny. I know guys that regularly quote the trip computer as gospel....LOL

Distance driven 996kms/621 Miles
Trip computer reading 9.5L/100kms = 24.7mpg US = 29.7mpg Imp
Next fill was 120L to full = 31.7 Gals US = 26.4 Gals Imp
Actual mileage = 19.58Mpg US = 23.5Mpg Imp

Hey GRI I agree with you that's why I questioned it in the first place. I like you own a auto also and the best I can get doing actual mileage testing on my truck with my mods and with a tonneau cover, with highway radials at 70psi and I held about 66-68mph on flat ground no wind day. I had the overhead reading 29.6 at one point and in the end it read 26.5. The actual mileage when hand jammed was 19.0 Now I know a manual will get a little better mileage but I too question 2.5 mpg better with the driver admitting to going mostly 70 but up to 77mph at times. Not in that truck, not without extensive mods for increased gas mileage like a freehub kit in the front for less drag, electric fan kit, and gears like a 3.42 instead of 3.73's. Those numbers almost meet those of the diesel jeep grand cherokee that is more aerodynamic, lighter weight, and only has a 3.0L mercedes diesel.

ok i am almost tired of defending my post, I dont have a 2" levelkit, I'm not running 275's w/ 18" rims, i dont have an auto my tires were at 80psi or better, no AC or heat was used, windows up (3/4 of the way up) bed was completely empty ( was afraid stuff would get stolen where i was) all U nay sayers can call BS but I know what happened, an i know for a FACT that the truck can achieve these nubmers, I may have touched 77mph once or twice but 98% of the time it was at 70mph, I am running full synthetic in motor and diffs with air filter upgrades so like I said befor we can go on a road trip if any of ya'll are in the central TX area( i will by the beer and fuel) i also encouterd no hills. we all know south TX is flat, so ya'll may not beable to belive it but it is true!!!!

I hooked the snap on scanner up to my truck to monitor the lock up on my stock converter. With the stock tune and on my 05' it does not lock up until 2000 rpm. If you try to keep your rpm at around 1800 you converter is still allowing slip where as riding at 2050-2100 the converter is locked up so that will also result in better mpg. I don't baby my truck at all and i still get about 15-16 mpg i also do mostly city driving and i have 33's and 4:10's

kw5.9,

I am not asking you to defend your truck at all. I am posting my opinion so that others reading will not get the wrong idea that this is possible with a normal dodge truck. Yes every so often you may find an anomoly in nature like a 6 legged deer but it's very rare and not the norm. You may have got the MPG that you say you did but others should realize that this is very unusual. My mileage check was not done with the current items listed on my truck. It was with the stock Michelin highway tires, K&N filter in a modified intake system and full Jardine dual 4 inch exhaust, and a tonneau cover. Windows up, flat ground, no wind day, no A/C, no heat, no radio on etc. Never exceeding 70 mph and mostly at 68 mph to keep the rpms at 2000 rpms. Just saying, it's not the norm for a truck this big and heavy and non-aerodynamic.
