this seems wierd to me my truck has around 16,000 kilometres on it or 10,000 miles i traveled long distance home from Zama lake and boost was hitting 33 psi on hills ...... it has never gone into regen mode once since i have owned it with from brand new...... ford says nothing is wrong yet owners manual says never drive with elevated boost..... i wish i woulda baught a gm or dogde..... im heading to ford store to rip o n them today only averaging around 6 mpg empty...... i think all us ford 6.4 owners need to get something done here this is pretty sad ..........

Was this after taking it in for the re-call??? Yeah, too bad that GM and Dodge don't make a "TRUCK" though....

Shawn, i am seeing the same crap, but it gets better if i do this.... When the boost goes up like that pin on her for a few seconds, then let right off the throttle till the boost zeros out, then "slowly step her back to your speed that you where driving... ??? have no idea why, but it stays back at the say 10psi that it should be at and the mileage comes back.... Give that a try sounds stupid but it works for mine.. I still think it is their shitty tune.

Picked it up today. The power and boost seems fine so far. Shift points are different but that is it. The Ford rep just happened to be there. He said the tune will provide a minimal increase in power, probably not noticable, but not a decrease and will not effect the mileage. They have a new radiator now for those who have had problems. The original radiator has been a huge problem. They have been replacing those with the same bad radiator until now. I got the new one installed yesterday and they say it will last the life of the truck.
He also said that Ford will have their own diesel motors begining 2010. Maybe because they don't like what has come out so far?

Maybe be a sore subject but is the Predator the only programmer not working wit the update? A buddy of mine has one from a competitor and it worked fine after the update.

that's because they're rolling back the calibrations which is bad ju ju... That trucks PCM crashes or anything ever happens I hope you have 1400 bucks in your pocket for a new PCM.

I'm unable to update U7164 Predator with latest CROM... tells me to restore original backup first. Did that long since, before taking vehicle to dealer for the recall flash...

Sequence of events-- restored factory tune, took vehicle to dealer in January-- they did the recall flash (and installed the cooling system T). Came home tried to put the economy/performance tune back in, got error message "can't program without dynamic cuts." Checked this forum, saw threads re the recall and need for new CROM, posted and waited...

Got new CROM today (thanks, guys!), tried to load it into Predator, got error message indicating that tool was still married. Went to truck, tried to 'restore original backup,' got 'dynamic cuts' message and message that original backup could not be restored.

Tool says last tune written was original backup. Truck is for sure running the new dealer flash and nothing else, and for sure it was the old factory flash before I took it in for the recall.

Appears the tool needs a reset of some sort before I can load the lasted CROM. Tools shows these cal IDs:
Unit 1:8U7A-14C204-AL, Unit 2:8C3A-14337-CA

Doesn't matter what CROM I try to send to the unit-- same error message. Acts as if the tool sucked down part or all of the new factory flash, but then couldn't write the 9r07 crom and quit with the 'dynamic cuts' message-- leaving the tool unusable.

Note that if I try to "get tune file from tool" and click 'no' to download the last tune written (if any) nothing is retrieved.

Help... :-)

Now that the update is ready to go, I just need to get my truck back to try it. Three days ago it was in for an oil change. On the way home I lost all power and it felt like I was litterally dragging an anchor. Ford said they wouldn't be able to look at it that day but to let them know what it was doing in the morning. Next morning on the way to work I made it a mile from home and poof. Check engine light finally came on and was a dead stick. Had to haul it into Ford on the back of a truck. Apperently the EGR valve was stuck at 90% open. They need to replace the valve and housing however, parts are back ordered into the States and they have no idea when they will be getting them. Another truck with the same problem has been waiting 2 weeks. So... I get to break in a brand new F 150 rental for work. I thought it sucked not having my predator. Not having my truck blows goats!!
