not that i can think of bud, but like i told mike i cant get your calibration from ford, so i cant bench test it here. I would feel alot better if i could just to rule out the predator, but i don't see any reason why it wouldn't backup. That error usually means it is trying but something is interfering. The pcm is completely stock right? no other tuner has ever been on it that you are aware of?

as far as i know the ecm is bone stock.
the truck runs 16 flat in the 1/4 which is about right for weighing 7220lbs
i have unplugged the EGR ( will be deleted later on with the cooler as well ) it has a 4'' to 5'' exhaust twin 1100 CCA batteries showing 14 volts at my stereo's capacitor without the truck running.
when i pulled the fuses i left the starter, IDM , ecm , etc anything that wasnt vital to the engine running and the DLC was pulled.
the predator will pull the DTC's and clear them ( ghost code and the EGR ) but will not show vehicle VIN or back up/ tune the ECM
i had PM'd my cell number to you if you need more info give me a call

If it can not read the vin then there is definitely a communication problem between the pred and the ecu for sure. That pretty much seals the deal as a communication problem.
Look at your ecu, see how the plugs are big big small from left to right? Unplug the middle large plug and the smaller plug and try again.

ok to update a bit here....
unplugged the two plugs and resulted in DTC codes
p0046 turbo boost control solenoid circuit
p0098 I.A.T sensor 2 high imput
p0118 engine coolant temp high
p0198 engine oil temp high
p0403 EGR control circuit
p0405 EGR sensor A circuit low
p0470 Exhaust pressure sensor
p0472 Exhaust pressure sensor low
p0603 PCM keep alive memory error
p0670 glow plug circuit
p1000 OBD
p2285 ICP circuit low
p2623 ICP regulator open
u0105 " UNKNOWN"
trying to tune the truck resulted in FAIL ...
plugged back in the two plugs wiped the codes and tried again FAIL
it will read up to 85% and then fail ...
but the predator will surprisingly read and track all the PIDs in my truck

it will read up to 85% now though? Is that with it unplugged? or plugged in? (or both)
Yea the trouble codes are to be expected when you dump those two plugs, but it gets rid of a lot that may cause the interference. Ill ask the engineers today if there is anything else they can think of. Is there a check engine light at all when the truck is running? Does it have any codes at all that never go away?

no my boss actually had a copy of the file. Damn that would been helpful haha. Anway yes yes epic fail on my end, failed on the bench at 85% just like you said. I got a trace of it doing it, should have a fix hopefully today for ya...and this time ill test it on the bench first hehe. Tell PSD, whoever he is, that i appreciate the offer.

ah i see it now, very informative guy from what i see.
Axiom this problem turned about to be a bit bigger then i expected. Im working on the fix right now, it actually wound up applying to trinity as well so im working on fixing both pred and trinity, I should have a fix for you soon hang tight!
