Re: VR7135 tune-fan speed adjust

Post by SRTbernie »

My 2009 Challenger SRT8 has a Vortech SC (w/included Predator tune). Because I kept getting a "Check Engine" warning showing P0128 code I called Vortech. They said some of their installations trip that code due to the 180' thermostat and suggested I go back to the stock temp thermostat. Now that I replaced the t-stat with stock my fan seems to run more. Maybe its just my perception but I was wondering if I need to make adjustments to the fan/speed settings. If so, would you please advise whiat the settings should be?
Thanks!

The fans are definitely running more. They're trying to keep the temp down and they can't because the stat isn't opening. You definitely need a 180 in there, because the Hemi heat soaks. What Stat do you have? If its the Jet, thats your problem. You need to get a NAPA 180.

I had the 180' included by Vortech in their V3 system for my Challenger, installed with the system. Because I repeatedly got the P0128 error code indicating the engine not coming up to temp. I sent to Vortech and got a replacement in case the first was faulty. I continued to get the P0128 error code. I lived with it for a time, resetting the "check engine" indicator numerous times. My engine tech at my dealer said it was not letting the engine reach the temp the computer was looking for, hence the error code. I contacted Vortech about disabling that error code and was told they could not disable it in the tune. Vortech suggested I reinstall the stock Dodge thermostat, it's about 200', to correct the problem. They said nothing about the fans. I've noticed the fans running a lot more. I wondered if the fans were adjusted in the tune supplied in the Predator with the Vortech system, and if so could the fans be adjusted for the stock thermostat temp.

additional: The car ran great with the 180' supplied by Vortech. Performance with it was not the issue. The issue was with the repeated error and persistent "check engine" light. It was either drive around with the light constantly on, unplug the light, or try to correct with the hotter thermostat as suggested by Vortech.
