9r29 crom: Why Raise Shift Points?
Moderator: mikel
RE: Re: RE: shift points
So, What I am reading is that there are ways to raise the shiftpoint on a 2009 Challenger R/T with the newest update??? I just had my car tuned in May, and they even emailed Diablo while I was standing there. There was no way to raise my shiftpoint. If this is true, I am quite pleased, yet disappointed.... In both parties. Alot of money down the drain, Because I will need to start all over. There was a 2010 Ram 1500 that could adjust the shiftpoints getting tuned that same day. Strange that a truck has more performance options sooner than a car.
Re: RE: Re: RE: shift points
The only options to raise the shift points using a U7135 on a 09 RT are: Stock, 6200 or 6400. Some claim they have the option of 6000, however, I have tried both the 9r29 and 9r29L croms and can find no such option. I did try the 6200 but shifting was sluggish, weird - didn't feel right, so I returned it to stock. Unless you have significant mods I don't recommend 6200. Can someone point out how to get the 6000 shift point?BobT wrote:So, What I am reading is that there are ways to raise the shiftpoint on a 2009 Challenger R/T with the newest update??? As was likely explained then, the rams have a built in TCM which is nothing like the TCM in an LX/LC, and they offer much more tuning options as such.BobT wrote:So, What I am reading is that there are ways to raise the shiftpoint on a 2009 Challenger R/T with the newest update??? The 09+ applications had a rev limiter with an unknown source, but as a product of our constant R&D, we found and can now allow you to raise the rev limiter. Once that happened, we spent some time trying some of the tricks we use to raise shift points onthe older LX models and we were able to make it all come together.

6000 is only for the older models. The same command that gets 6K points for the older models produces slightly higher shifts in the new models.rham48 wrote:The only options to raise the shift points using a U7135 on a 09 RT are: Stock, 6200 or 6400. It sounds like you needed to raise your rev limiter a bit higher to take advantage of the shift points.

Re: RE: Re: RE: shift points
Mikel, I have an older model Predator (bought it in mid 09). I tried setting the shift points at 6200 and the rev limiter at 6000, thinking that it would only go up to/shift at 6000. This produced bad results. Is there anyway I can set everything at 6000? Right now I have Stock, 6200 or 6400. Or is it built in to the tune? Thx.mikel wrote:6000 is only for the older models. Raise the limiter as high as it'll go. You can't have it lower then the shift points.
