i called in and talked to Gary. He said that sending in the unit would cost me $99 because my buddy who passed the unit down to me could not come up with the receipt. Is this really the case? Kind of a bummer

Yes, the warranty on these tools only applies to the original owner.
Any services provided on a tool that is out of warranty will incur a $99 charge.

what if i send it in with the $99 and its not the predator that is broken? Do i get refunded?
