But if a connecting rod or bearing (or any hard part for the matter) lets go and bombs the engine the tuning had nothing to do with it there for the Magnuson Moss Act will protect you against them saying you modified your tuning which voids your warrenty period. I agree, I don't even fully understand the Act either but I'm fairly educated and won't let someone push me around either.

Not saying to let anyone push you around, we pay good money for these vehicles and deserve to be taken care of if something fails under warranty.....And not trying to argue (just giving examples) but most likely you won't be protected under that act. GM's defense would probably be, the tuning made the engine work harder than it is designed to do and it threw a rod due to the extra stress on the engine from being tuned, you're on your own.
That act is there so a manufacturer can not make you purchase a certain brand or product to be used on your vehicle.
Example : You have to use AcDeclo parts OR your warranty is void.....That act protects you from them pushing a specific brand on you, that's all.

Exactly, that's the deal breaker. Some dealers are good to their customers, and some don't want to do anything but sell you a car. Fortunately my dealer is one of the good guys and doesn't expect anybody to keep their vehicle stock very long.
He actually has several trucks on the lot lifted, tuned, and modded in many ways. Never had any issues and they are willing to do just about anything.

Don't forget, for them to void anything they have to be able to prove that aftermarket parts directly caused the failure. And burden of proof is on them.

I think that's what blackZ71 is getting at, it's up to the dealer prove the cause of the failure (whether aftermarket product or not) and most people people won't argue them.

Yup, that's what I was trying to do....A lot of people for some reason take the dealer word as the word of Christ and won't think twice about it no matter what they are told.
IF something does happen to your vehicle, you need to be ready to state your case and have them show exactly, without a doubt what caused the issue at hand.
Most of these guys are in the business of selling and servicing stock vehicles only and don't really have a clue about what's going on with them most of the time. A lot of the issues are figured out over the phone with a GM Tech. in Detroit.
My advise would be before buying, talk to the dealership about how they feel about after market add ons and how their service department works. That will give you a pretty good understanding of what they consider acceptable....If you don't agree, find someone else.

I agree I have a dealer that sells about 80% trucks they just put 3.73 gears in my truck gave me wholesale on the parts and I still have my power train warranty they will work with me on just about anything as long as it isn't too radical.
