Just received my inTune DCX

Well, so much for my optimism. Everything seemed to be going well until it got to the end of the upload and it said 'Error writing file" or whatever. Went into recovery mode, but of course there was no factory tune to restore from. Tried uploading again, and got an "Error reading Map" message. Can't get away from that screen on the DCX, so I turned the ignition off and disconnected it from my car. My car is dead naturally; it won't even turn over. It's my DD and I need it for work Monday. Downloaded current calibration file this morning. I never had any problem tuning my Mustang with my SCT handheld. Anyone have any ideas?
Never had the option to load a particular canned tune (93, 91 etc.); when registering the device last night I had no Dodge Challenger option in the drop down. Needless to say, I'm very pissed!!!

Yes, it was Mike. I sent a long message yesterday on the Tech Support page describing all of the problems I'm having. I can't call you now; I'm at work. Will call about 5:00 pm your time, which is EST; right?

when you register for a forum, you are asked to select your timezome settings....if you dont, it defaults to whatever...

this is the same with any forum I have ever registered for, not sure how it is lack of attention to detail....?

My apologies, Mike. Just dug through my account settings and set myself to my local time. That is within our control, so I can't fault you there.

I guess the only issue now is getting the Intune DCX I bought to actually work with my vehicle. Right now, it's a fully functioning paper weight.

Okay, an update. Got Vas on the phone and we tried loading the calibration update to my PCM twice; no luck. Tried a couple other things and my car still wouldn't turn over. He is sending me a shipping label tomorrow so that I can return my inTune DCX and my PCM so that they can reflash the PCM and to see if my tuner is defective. All of this was offered by Vas, and I'm grateful for the attempt to make things right. Hopefully in a couple of days I'll be able to fire up my ride and see what the 93 octane tune can do. As of this post, I'm feeling satisfied with DS, just not with the problems that the product caused. I have faith that everything will be resolved.

You said your tuner was defective? Is this why it wouldn't load all the updates? Is this because the intune needs to upgrade the PCM to the AD version first before installing the tune to the car and this is where it failed?

After reading all the forums, I am scheduled for a full custom dyno tune this Saturday my intune will be used to store the custom tune and stock tune so I can flash it back and forth when needed. I wonder if my intune still has to be married to the car or since they are authorized diablo tuning shop they can some how drop everything on the intune and I can bypass that step. I am glad diablo is doing the right thing for you and supporting their product as they should but I am not willing to take a chance on a brand new 50k car. I opened this can of worms and now I will hopefully close it by going this route even though its extra money it's worth the peace of mind.

That's not what I said, Paul. I said they were going to check it to see IF it was defective. I downloaded the AD PCM calibration and it was when loading it to the car that everything started going wrong. I might be wrong, but I do believe that there are different updates for the 392 than for the 345 engines. You also drive an automatic, so some of your updates may be for the tranny control module. We'll see when I get my stuff back and I try to update it.
As for the dyno tune, your DCX will be needed to both save your factory tune and to write the custom tune to your car. At least that was how it was when I had my Mustang tuned on the dyno. The tuner wrote his changes on his laptop and then transferred them to my SCT to upload to the car. Just saying.

Okay, I got my PCM and inTune DCX back today, and I wanted to post up my experiences so that others may gain some insight into things they are experiencing. After installing my reflashed PCM, I started the car up and it went to idle at about 1500 RPM and stayed there, stumbling a bit, for about 45 seconds. I tried goosing the gas pedal and no response. Someone mentioned this in another thread. So, I shut off my car, gave it a few seconds and started it again. This time the idle was down to about 1000 RPM and when I blipped the joy pedal, it idled down to 750 RPM. Throttle control had returned. I shut her down again and connected the DCX to power up. I checked for DTC codes and there were only 2, both related to low throttle voltage (amperage?); I cleared them and checked again. No DTC codes!

Then I pulled the trigger and set about to install the 93 octane tune. The DCX successfully backed up my factory tune, and wrote the Diablo tune to 100%. When I cycled the key per the tuner prompts, I got a failure to write error and it prompted me to reload the factory tune. I did, and it worked. While waiting for tech support to answer my call, I noticed that MikeL had posted a cure for this problem in another thread (the one about key cycle failures). I was just powering up my DCX to try this fix when Vas answered. I told him my problem, Mike's fix and we went through the 93 tune upload again. Once the tune writes to 100% and prompts you to turn the key to off, do so and then be patient and wait for all of the dash lights to go out before tapping the green check mark on the DCX. Then turn the key back on when prompted and tap the green check. My tune then was finalized and the DCX said the upload was successful.

Kudos to Vas and to whoever turned my PCM and DCX around so quickly. My DCX was reset and updated, and they also flashed the updated calibration file to my PCM. Vas was patient and polite on the phone, and he took the time to ensure that I got my 93 octane tune loaded. Now I just have to charge up my battery a bit to get the car started, since the tuning process (two tries and scanning/clearing codes) drained my battery just enough to prevent it from starting. Will report back tomorrow on my opinion of the tune itself.

I tried to maintain a cool head and give you folks a chance to make things right, and you all did. I'm grateful for that. As long as the Diablo tune works okay, I'll be a happy camper. Not working tomorrow, so I'll be able to do some cruising to make sure everything is good. My car fired up after being on the battery charger for about 45 minutes, so all that's left is to try out the tune tomorrow.

My car is running fine; no CEL or any other lights showing. I am a little disappointed in the tune, though. While I haven't romped on my R/T yet, she does seem to accelerate through the gears a bit smoother than before. I haven't noticed a big difference in power, but that might come with some spirited sprinting while the adaptive learning gets used to the new tune. When my tuner gets his hands on the CMR software, I'll be going to see him to ensure things are right since I'm running shorty headers, the Corsa catback and a CAI. All in all, I'm happy to have my ride back and to know that she's running well.

If not...go back to stock after you've driven it a bit, and see how much different it feels

Also, try adding a little throttle booster, and select the shift firmness option in quick adjust.

Not really on the throttle response, Mike, but then again I haven't romped on her yet. I was more concerned with everything working after the trouble I had. As for shift firmness, I've got a 6-speed manual. I have noticed that 2nd gear is more friendly in that it will wind up more without feeling sluggish like it did earlier. The car feels smoother, if you know what I mean. Coming from a blown 600 HP '08 Mustang GT, I may be expecting too much from a 20HP increase on a NA car, so I'm not really complaining about the tune. I'm just saying that I haven't put it through it's paces yet.
As for the throttle booster, I assume that increasing the percentage (is that how it's measured? I haven't looked yet) will increase the response...make it quicker, is what I mean. For the 93 octane tune, what would you recommend? Plus 10%; plus 20%? I'll give it a shot.

I just now bumped up the throttle 5%, and I'll see how that changes things when I go to work tonight. One question: after I changed the throttle setting, it exported the changed Diablo file to the DCX. Did I overwrite the factory tune on the DCX? It gave me no option to save the factory tune. I was expecting this adjustment to be in the Quick Adjust settings, but it wasn't.

stock tune is always stored internally, any time you write a new tune it exports a copy of it to the external drive to your tunes folder.
