A virus wouldn't do anything to your vehicle.
But if a coder that can disassemble the code, Change settings and reassemble it, could cause severe harm to your vehicle

Yup, that's why I cautioned in an earlier post on this thread to keep in mind that you are flashing your vehicle computer with this code. Of course, if I knew how to reverse engineer the code, then I would've made my own 9r07 hybrid code with working tranny options already and never would've posted my thread just minutes before the initial post in this one.
Seriously though... I'm nowhere close to smart enough to do that.
I supervise a group of 5 that fixes PC's and servers for 2,000(+/-) people, I'm good at that job. If you put code in front of me though, I run away screaming. You'll find me somewhere in a closet in the fetal position rocking back and forth after looking at code...
HeLLSPaWN has a great point though... I know I'm trustworthy, but you guys don't. I know those files are clean and original DS files but how do you know that. Hopefully DS will come through for us soon and not put us in this position again in the future. I would like to suggest that DS keep both the current file and at least one previous version available for DL in case something like this does happen again.
I'm just waiting for the 9r07 to come out, I left 9r06 in for now (because I'm lazy) and because my tranny issue was mostly resolved after having a trans flush. So, I'm leaving well enough alone for now.

running XP Pro. Using Acronis True Image 2010 which I really like. I use the Image backups but not sector by sector (space and I want the individual file access). I would like to do full disk encryption with maybe something like WinMagic's SecureDoc. Single password at login time. Any chance of something like that? Full disk encryption that works with an imaging backup?

Way over my head on that one. Though I supervise 2nd and 3rd level for tech support, my group is more like 1st level support (first line of defense) for our encryption tasks. We have an entirely different group for that.
We do use full disk encryption for our client machines, but we don't do any sort of client system backup, only server backups.
I can tell you that if you have an encryption system worth is salt, it's nearly impossible to view files on a different machine that what it was created on (I don't know how you're trying to use your image backups). Usually the key hash is a mix of active directory, MAC address, and OS info. Otherwise, you could just steal a drive or NV memory even, slave it to another machine and take the data, effectively defeating the whole purpose of encrypting it to begin with. There are just too many possible environment scenarios that I don't fully understand to really answer this for you... Sorry.
Man... I was trying not to think about IT stuff this weekend...!

Okay, we're way off topic now... Don't want this to get bumped... I think DS will answer this post before mine due to the amount of posts...
Send me a PM if I can help any more.
