yes, restore original backup to the vehicle first... before you update the tool....
ummm, and yeah, you gotta make sure you have the usb drivers installed and setup correctly so that the dsdownloader program can communicate with the programmer...
bits per second (i.e. baud rate) for the cable should be at 115,200, and the com port # needs to be set to 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5....

on the unit/tool itself, yes... and also for the cable itself in the Windows Device Manager...

Okay, so did I nod off and miss something.....? This thread kinda made me think there has been some form of TCM support added... Am I just looking too far into it? All that being said, is there any benefit for the 07 GMC Sierra 4X4 5.3L and 4 speed auto, especially firming up shifts and getting rid of the tranny nanny nonsense? If so, I have found new motivation to update and have Lew (aka. ruler of tunes) update my custom tune after I put the new O2 sensor in the right bank.

what will this new update do for me with the 4.8 and 4 speed auto will it have any trans tuning to it

My understanding is that there are some things built into the tune files that "compensate" for the torque reduction the transmission computer does to the engine. (in simple terms...LOL) I believe that it will improve the feel of the shifts, but it's not actually adjusting the firmness of the shifts. Its not trans tuning, but they have come up with a way to counteract some of the tranny nanny nonsense. Anyone who really knows please feel free to corect me.

So, I can't tell you what they've really done. Its way above all our paygrades... Thanks for the email, btw! I can't wait to do the update and get your tune for my truck dialed in. I'm thinking im going to be getting a varam for the truck really soon, so I'll probably hold off on the update until then.

How does the tune affect the G8 GXP 6-speed auto? Is the change applied to both regular mode and sport automatic mode? Or just one or the other?

it's not a change made to the tcm module... there's no doing anything to different shift modes, shit points, etc etc...
there's a change on the engine side of the tune that has to do with spark advance during shifts that makes the difference... the change will affect both modes...

Will this benefit or improve performance on my 2010 Camaro SS Auto? I have version 15 in the car now. Is it worth the hassle? Did anyone notice a difference?

yes, the update will make a difference for your auto...
and a custom tune for it would make an even bigger difference...
