The 2290 is low injector pressure codes, previous revisions commanded a higher injector pressure which the limits were not raised causing these codes to appear. Now the ICP thats commanded is in the range for which the limits are at and you shouldnt be getting 2290 codes in the r20 tunes. When the code came up was it after a hard acceleration?

yes it was during acceleration. surged real bad, it also did it at about 3/4 throttle. it only does it during the 100 hp tune.

I just got home from another 120 mile trip. I had the tow tune installed. Driving style was a little different, first 60 miles speeds were 80-90 mph.
truck ran perfectly smooth and held speeds on hills without any problem at all with no throttle movement. on the return trip speeds were between 50-60 mph due to a snow storm with the truck plowing through 2-3 inches of snow. I still got 14.5 miles per gallon. these are all hand calculated.

As for the 100 hp tune and the surging, it was during hard accel WOT and also hard accel at only 3/4 throttle both from a dead stop. it also did it from a roll at WOT. Not much smoke, only when I first get into it. pretty good blast of black then it clears up. this is a huge difference from when I first bought the programmer with r14.

any solutions to the surging problem and the p2290 trouble code using the 100 hp tune yet? Just point me in the right direction if you have any ideas. Again my cal ID is vxap2n2.

I am new to the usergroup but have been using the 100hp setting from revision r13 for sometime. I just down loaded the r20 and installed the 65hp option. Truck is an 2005 F-250. Which setting should get me the best mpg? The 100hp setting used to get me around 20 mpg on the highway at 78 mph. Thanks in advance for your reply.

I haven't had it in truck for more than 3 miles so far. I know it does shift firmer which is nice. The tranny sure seemed to slip when shifting under the r13 that was in it. The 100hp r13 was awesome in comparison to the 65hp r13 but I thought I read that the 65hp setting was supposed to get you better mileage. On the r13, the mpg went up noticilbly each time you went up in hp.

I drove the truck in town on Saturday and I think the mileage went down from the original r13 100hp setting. I dropped around 2 miles per gallon. Haven't tried the highway yet. The only down fall I see so far is that when I start it in 35 degree weather and it's been sitting outside for a while, the truck acts like its only running on a few cylinders at first. Takes about 60 to 90 seconds to start clearing up.

Still looking into it. I am currently trying to get a list of new pids added to the DAT software to help troubleshoot the surge issue that a couple customers are having. I will be making a new thread here shortly for a request from the users who want to try better fuel economy tunes.

I upgraded from r17 to r20. I only use the 60hp tune and experienced quite a bit of surging uphill under load with r17 at roughly 2K rpm's, ~70mph, 1/2-3/4 throttle. It would also throw trouble codes as well. With r20 the surging is diminished but still occurs from in situations where there is additional load. My info is below. Please help.

I have never tried the 100hp tune, but can I assume that the surging can only be worse with this tune?

Does your truck still throw a trouble code as r17 did?

No trouble codes yet with r20.

The only time the r17 would throw a code, however, is when I would use WOT from a complete stop and it would do it somewhat rarely. When I would use the predator to diagnose the code, nothing would show up in the tuner and once unplugged the check engine light would go out.
