RE: Same as above
I must admit that when I downloaded mine I was asked some difficult questions - about original backups and TCM files. I had unloaded the Predator from the car before downloading my new file, so I showed it a copy of my car's backup which I had previously saved. I told it I had no TCM file to offer, and everything appears to have gone smoothly after that. The MDS-smoothed tune appears as a custom tune on my Predator (ie in the custom tunes menu not the canned tunes menu).

Re: MDS Smoothed - TCM mention.
Now TCM support is another matter. It's a pity Chrysler won't work with DS on this because there's scope for improvement on the DS product and I believe they're having difficulty getting into the TCM programming.concoursd wrote:If Johan is bored then I bet there is a lot of TCM support piling up..
That's not the subject for this thread though so I'll just head over to an appropriate thread and post up.
Cheers,

DS guys (johan)
thanks for the smoothed MDS which I've now tried.
It comes out of MDS completely smoothly (imperceptible almost).
I didn't expect it, however, to also run smoother in MDS mode so that's a wee bonus. I thought at first the MDS wasn't in !
Well done.

RE: Re: MDS Smoothed - TCM mention.
Just probing for knowledge ...
Does this MDS "smoothly" tune take the place of the currently written tune or is it in addition to a currently written tune?
More precisely, do these MDS smoothing tunes write parameters such as WOT fuel % and WOT spark adv/ret in addition to the parameters being written for the purpose of smoothing the MDS?
Or do these MDS smoothing files only write parameters to effect MDS behavior?
For example, if you install one of these MDS smoothing tunes and then find a need to change some parameters in the performance tune, will changing the performance tune and loading it to the vehicle overwrite the parameters written by the MDS smoothing tune or will the MDS smoothing parameters remain unchanged?
My thought process is this...
Could a person load a stock 93 oct CAI tune that has this MDS smoothing modification and then expect the MDS to behave the same if WOT fuel and or WOT spark modifications are made to the 93 oct CAI tune and then written to the vehicle?
Or are these MDS smoothing changes unique to each tune based on the current parameter adjutments of the unique tune?

RE: Re: MDS Smoothed - TCM mention.
It's just one tune file. You get your current tune to Johan, he tweaks it (for the MDS) and gets it back to you. You load that tune to your car. It's your old tune with Johan's tweaks in it. Loading a perf tune after installing that one would replace it.

RE: Re: MDS Smoothed - TCM mention.
i have the 93 cai tune on my car will it only work on that tune or will it work on all tunes cause right now i have mine mds turned off.
RE: Re: MDS Smoothed - TCM mention.
Thanks again for the assistance, email sent........
Re: RE: Re: MDS Smoothed - TCM mention.
Ummm... What Johan is doing (pretty sure) is modifying one or more parameters in the tune file that you send him. Send him ANY tune file and he can adjust those parameters in it. All the other parameters stay the same. He sends it back and now you have ONE tune file with those changes (for MDS smoothing) in it. If you load a different tune file to your car it won't have those changes in it. You will still be able to "Modify Parameters" on the tune file that you get back.sleeper_r/t wrote:i have the 93 cai tune on my car will it only work on that tune or will it work on all tunes cause right now i have mine mds turned off.

I put my stock tune back in my truck. Predator said "the device was reset"
I put the custom "MDS smoother" tune back in and my pc said the tune was the same as the original back up. Did I screw up somewhere ?
My stock tune and MDS tune. Do they look right ?

I originally sent mikel my 93tune with 100+ on the rpm. Got the tune installed and ran with it, but now my tranny is making a noise going from 1st to 2nd WOT. So I put the stock tune back in and wanted to take it to the dealer. I'm not going to the dealer this weekend so put the 93 tune back in . That's when my computer said it's the same as the original tune.HerDaytona wrote:Fav did you send Johan "your last written toon" or the ORI file???
Does it go by the number code ? I see the two files are different sizes. Just confused.

Stock tune went back in then the "custom toon" disappeared. right?? OK so you used the same files on your PC with DS Downloader to load back in?? OK so then it was said that both files are the same. Did you use "Express Tune Mode" or "Advanced Tuning".
Do you still have the email with the tune from Mike in it??? If so then start over. If you used Advanced try this. Click on the drop down menu and it will show you what you had used before and click on theose files. That should do it.
