Looks like EGR was a big part of the problem.

That's interesting. That look's like that was half the problem.Definetly good info for the guy's doing the tuning.

Feedback for Johan: I reloaded tune 005 and did a fuse pull reset afterward's.It made no improvement's to the tune.I deceided to relaod tune 004 to campare the surge to tune 005.Also done a fuse pull reset after loading tune004.Tune 004 is definetly lighter in intensity of the surge.Tune 005 seemed to get stuck and did'nt go through the rpm's as light and fast as 004.Also noticed something else. When reving the motor to approx. 2500rpm when the rpm's started droping at around 1500rpm the rpm's seemed to pause for a split second before continuing to drop.(almost sounded like the motor reved again or was still reving) After loading tune 004 and reving it this was gone and it was back to normal. What would you like to do next Johan.

Sorry about the time away...

I really feel that the surge is from a lean/rich condition... I've had a few cars that really needed that O2 sensor delay to get rid of the accel and decel surge (decel more than anything). Some really have no issues, some are just stubborn, like this truck.

Disabling EGR and having it surge less does make sense, as the Vacuum signal is more directly related to the airflow without EGR....

There you are Mike.lolol I guess my truck is like me stubborn.lolol (most would have taken the cam out or went back to stock by now.)I've been trying to pay closer attention to the surge to give better info for it's solution.Watching the wideband when it's surging it will be in the mid 14's then go to mid 15's then it will shoot down to mid 13's (around 13.7) and then jump back to mid 14's.If you guy's want i can get a video of the wideband for you.

A Trinity log with WB data would be ideal ;)

Upgrading to the trinity is on my list but don't have access to one.Let me see what i can do to get you a video and a log.So the log will be more acurate i'll just log the pid's we started with, unless you rather log all the pid's in the sticky?

Guy's just got back from borrowing a video camera.Getting ready to make a vid for you.I have tune 004 back in the truck.(it did'nt like tune 005) Johan already has a log of this tune.Is a log necessary and if so what pid's do you want.(Need a quick response i have to pick up a buddy getting out of the hospital here in a little while.)

Logs with all the PIDs Johan suggests is always a good idea.

Here's the link to the vid and the log.In the vid as i get up beside the truck in the road you'll see the afr gauge show a 12.x afr for a split second.

I am at a little of a loss on this one. I have done countless cammed rides without these issues. I am starting to think that it might be something vehicle specific in this case.

Johan i have checked everything i can that might be caused mechanically. That's why i have a stock TB on my truck while the ported and polished one sit's in a box.(It made no differance in the surge.)If there is something you think it may be i'll be glad to check it.(Just so you know your dealing with a very well maintained and garage kept 2005 that just turned 19,000mi.)Stu thought it was vacuum. My response was if it's vacuum then the tune would'nt effect it,it does.He agreed.(Check vacuum anyway had 16.5 in hg at 700rpm idle.) Johan i have no doubt on your tuning abilities. You've already impressed me with what you've done so far.(The truck is much more driveable because of your tuning) The truck is still surging as you can see in the vid i posted. This is why i posted this thread to let you guy's know of this problem in the truck's.This is as good as it get's for some of us with bigger cam's.This problem seemed to go unmentioned till i started inquiring. There are other's in other thread's i started waiting to see if this get's resolved. If it does they want there's resolved too.(I'm sure there's alot of other's who just read and don't post.) I don't know why my surge was worse than most of the other's.But you can see by what someone else posted in one of my thread's i'm not the only one. This thorn in our side is hurting the fun of our truck's and the Dodge Ram performance market. We know our Dodge tuning is limited and so is the good tuner's we have access to.That is why one of the best tuner's of the lx's asked me to post this thread of his request so he could try and help us truck out.You guy's have shown Awesome customer support as well to try and help us out.(you already have my Thank You)My only goal with all this effort is to have a fun truck to drive and help other's to do the same.It look's to me you guy's can see what i'm saying when i said where do us Ram truck guy's turn to.Hopefully i did'nt come this far just to hit a dead end.If you guy's heart's is in your product(I believe it is) like our heart's are in the time, money and effort in our truck's,then let's not give up here.Johan if there is something you like to try you have access to my truck.(just remember i love this truck.lolol) If not, then how hard would it be to maybe try Mike's request for the pid on my truck to see if it's worth the effort? (No matter what you guy's deciede i'll still love my Diablo in the morning.lolol)
