Not likely. Most NA 4 cylinder direct injected applications are not going to see any power gains from tuning. With no gains in power output, it makes it really tough to justify developing that platform then not being able to sell itDaILLestWun wrote:Hey Mike, Some of the N/A Veloster folks were asking if it would be something they could benefit out of as well. What do you think? Just need to know what to tell them.

But they didn't because it takes a lot of time and money. Companies are in the business to actually make a profit. How many of those cars were actually sold and how many people are gonna spend 3 or 4 hundred on a tuner. Think about how much time and money has to go into it before the product goes out & are you gonna make a profit is the big question. Its basic business sense.

Re: 2013 Hyundai VT (Veloster Turbo)
The Turbo model has only been out for a year now (and less in some areas). In Tennessee, I'm sadly seeing the thing pop up more and more already (I liked the exclusivity in my area). Everywhere I go I get asked about this car and get stares from people. It definitely seems to be a head turner and gets their interest in the Nashville area. MANY people I speak to are impressed by it and are looking to trade in for it. You get a LOT for the package and price.Mike_Levy wrote:Frankly, I don't think they'll sell thousands of these cars, let alone have thousands of owners who will buy tuners. How long have they been out now? I've yet to see a single one that wasn't in the dealers showroom, and I live in NYC.
At least in my area, I fully expect sales to start increasing. When I bought mine, the Turbo models would not stay on any of the lots in a 75 mile radius. I had to have my transferred here from Texas.
And to add to that ... they have already sold thousands ... but whether those people are interested in serious mods is another question.

Re: 2013 Hyundai VT (Veloster Turbo)
Locally the Hyundai dealers can't keep anything on the lot. I put my Mom into an Elantra a year ago or so, and when we got there they had 2 on the lot, one was fully loaded. We drive the one she wanted, went inside to do paperwork, and we looked outside to see another group test driving the same car. They said they get 8-10 a week and run out every week. Might have something to do with the 10 year/100k mile warrantySilverTipp wrote:The Turbo model has only been out for a year now (and less in some areas). I also have been to 2 different dealers looking at GenCoupes, and I have yet to see the same car on the lot 2x.

Re: 2013 Hyundai VT (Veloster Turbo)
Okay. I guess its just up here where the Veloster is getting the cold shoulder. I've only seen 4 or 5 regular ones even. The other Hyundais I see plenty of, Accent, Elantra, Genesis coupe, especially Sonata. Even seen quite a few Genesis sedans and a couple of Equuis. Not the Veloster though. I think I've seen more Tesla Model S's than Velosters.

Re: 2013 Hyundai VT (Veloster Turbo)
Very well said. Trust me Mike, you know that I know the whole process. It did take us quite a while to get the LX's going. But I really do think we have something good here. We will see more and more Veloster's pop up as time goes by. Here is a link to the SFR flash thread. Apparently they are releasing their numbers tomorrow so we shall see:mikel wrote:Yes, thousands. You make it sound like superchips, hypertech, cobb, and anyone else who makes a tuner is already in development for this car, which, if that were true, you guys would not likely be here looking for a tuner
For example, they didn't make that many neon SRT4s, but, we have sold tuners to over HALF of the total number of vehicles built! Thats an amazing ratio (usually you hope to sell to about 5% of a market).
Let me also clarify, there is a huge difference between one of our tools, and a 'tune'.
You send your PCM to someone, pay for a tune that may or may not be ideal, then what?
You cant adjust it. You can't even log it. You can't even go back to stock unless you used a spare PCM or the tuner lives locally.
With one of our tools, you get:
custom tuning capabilities, either via email or in person.
datalogging capabilities.
read/clear codes.
can change tunes at any time.
can adjust the current tune at any time.
can integrate a wideband for logging.
can put the vehicle back to stock at any time for dealer visits.
Thats just the tip of the iceberg as well.
Most of the guys on the gencoupe forum that are begging for our tuner already have a tuned PCM, but unlike your theory, they see a valid need for what we offer. Most of them have a desire to be able to make even slight changes to their existing tune (1* of spark here or there, maybe pulla little fuel up top, etc), which is simply not possible currently.
Keep in mind, we have been doing this for a long time. We are a leader in the tuning industry, and intend to stay there.
I know its tough to grasp if you truly are not familiar with the process, but assuming a new tuner for a new application can be created overnight is borderline ridiculous

Super Excited to see some movement in the direction of tuning these little cars, they respond so well to minor modification. I cant wait to see what a little timing and more boost can do! Count me in!!!

Re: 2013 Hyundai VT (Veloster Turbo)
It would be a little premature of me to go over there and start teasing them. We are pretty well committed to GenCoupe as the next 'big project' here after 14 GM truck (today/monday) and 2013 DCX (soon) get released. Obviously, the gencopue project will open doors into other platforms, and if interest is there, this will make sense as turbo tuning is the way of the future.DaILLestWun wrote:

Re: 2013 Hyundai VT (Veloster Turbo)
Also, I'm sure there will be many similarities in the PCM's of both vehicle's. So that may be a big help when/if it comes time for our VT's.
Unfortunately people are already losing faith in Diablo Sport but everyone needs to remember that this cannot happen over night. I am confident though that eventually it will. The more names we get on here the better our chances. So spread the word!!!

Yeah, once we do the 13 GenCoupe, which is DI, it will likely share a PCM with these VT's.DaILLestWun wrote:Also, I'm sure there will be many similarities in the PCM's of both vehicle's. So that may be a big help when/if it comes time for our VT's.![]()

Sooo, looks like the average gains on the SFR tune were approx. 40WHP/40TQ. Pretty nice gains if you ask me.

Starts on the page linked below. No bone stock car but I think the least nodded had a catback and Sri. These are custom tunes but in one of the last pages one of the guys said he got a canned tune netting him 25/25

Re: 2013 Hyundai VT (Veloster Turbo)
I'm all for getting a tune but I'll likely never get one unless I have control over when its done, so I'm all in for a DT Tuner! I spend a LOT of time in my car for my job, and I drive all over the Columbus Metro. There are quite a few VT's up here but the majority are still NAVs. These things get bought up faster than the original Wii did. I had to wait almost 6 months before I could lay claim to mine.
