I gave it some time and I've tried both "Hard" and "Firm" shifts but no real noticeable difference from what I feel. Not sure which one is supposed to shift harder. You're right about the 8 speeds wanting to shift faster. I had a 2013 6.2/6 spd and it would chirp the tires when I'd get on it even at that 75% throttle. This one, not so much. After a year plus of begging and waiting for this tune, I guess I just got my hopes up. Glad to know it's just me.

The user adjustable parameters are there so that you can customize the way the transmission shifts to your liking. I would say the majority of customers have no desire to raise the shift rpm in their trucks, so we leave raising it up to the individuals that prefer it to shift higher. That's why we have those parameters in the tool for you to adjust. You're not going to hurt anything by raising your shift points.

I tried it again this morning just normal driving not WOT and the 1-2 2-3 shifts have a hesitation not even close to as good as stock the only thing I liked about this tranny was the first three shifts cause it felt like it has a tune as it had a firm fast shifts. But now its not as good with this tune. I will give it some more miles before returning to stock and run just the ECM tune.

If you'd like to post your files up, I can make it shift harder.

Again, the masses are not after transmission tunes that are going to chirp the tires at every shift. The tuning capability is there for anyone wanting it though. This is something that can be typically found through our Custom Tuning Dealers

You can load this tune up that is quite a bit firmer if you'd like.

I haven't tried the hard shift just the firm but it's not the firmness as much as the hesitation between shifts. Will the firmness fix that? But from 918SS said hard or firm didn't make a difference so that's why I haven't tried the hard shift yet. I am not looking to chirp tires between shifts but holding gears a bit longer and settle this transmission down from up shifting too fast even when quarter throttle it will still keep shifting up.

I'm not looking to chirp every gear, just making a point in the difference between transmission tunes. With the 6 speed, it was a noticeable shift even at low speeds... 8 speed, not so much. I'm not dogging you guys, I know this is complex. I'm beginning to think it's the tranny.

yeah, there have been a lot of issues with the 8 speed trannies.. GM has come out with a lot of programming updates for them since they came out, to fix a lot if issues..

I would make sure your TCM is fully updated to all newest/latest GM programming updates first from your dealer... then try the tunes..

The biggest difference between the 8 and 6 speeds is how quickly they shift from the factory. I've sped that up in the TCM tunes, but we're talking about milliseconds :) Post your files up from the tool and I'll make some adjustments for you.

Go ahead and load up what I've posted and report back.

Ok I can try it. But to make sure I do this right I save the file to my desk top then copy and paste in the main drive of the itune and wait for it to load to the programmer. But when I go to the truck can I just click modify and then pick the new tranny tune? How will it should up in the programmer as a new tcm tune?

Yes, that is how you load it to the tool, when you get to the truck, go through the advanced tune menu(you can tell it to skip the pcm control module) and then it will show a custom tune for the TCM. Just select that and load it up

Ok so last night I thought before I tried anything lets remove the TCM tune and only run the 87 performance as I always do with AFM off. Always like how it goes with that. Great test just getting back from work and I need to run some errands ( make sure this weird acting truck is not just in my head ) And guys I am a diablo guy, run it in my Vette as well with good results but this TCM tune for the 8 speed doesn't like my truck. I thought the truck also didn't coast as well when you let off gas almost like you applied the brakes a little, hesitation on shifts and down shifts very slow. Removing this was like night and day difference. Shifts are back to normal and the truck as a whole is snappier. It coasts again. Shifts are way faster as well. So maybe because my truck isn't up to date with the latest TCM program from GM is why? I have the 5.3 with 8 speed for the record. Not sure but at the moment I will just tune the ECM and not the TCM. Just seems like things aren't moving or acting like they should. Thanks for writing me a different tune to try but I am going to wait for now. You guys were great answering my questions on here very fast as well.
