Steeda CAI for Shelby GT

Post by 51derrill »

Sorry to keep starting new posts on an old subject. I have found that often, after the initial answer, subsequent replies are not responded to; and I know you guys are swamped! Below is a copy of a previous thread!
I was surprised to learn from Tech Support, that the U 7145 Tool blocks the CAI selection area on a Shelby GT, and I suppose that is also true of the GT 500, however, if you plug it into a standard Must GT, the CAI menu is available! Predator's answer regarding the CAI's is that
"The idea is we never imagined that someone would buy one of these cars and take the CAI off to add a different CAI.
Kinda defeats the whole purpose of the car, as the only thing that makes it different from a GT is the fact that it has a CAI, follow?"

Frankly I didn't follow. Isn't the whole idea behind the tuners, is to tune for performance, and don't most of re do the CAI. I sort of question the info deciminated here!
I have added the $200 Carbon Fiber Elbow to the stock Steeda CAI. They indicate that it will move substancially more air, or so they say. Another member added a C&L and found a huge difference! Since I have no OEM files (CAI Tunes) in my U 7145, will you have to build me a tune, or is a 3 to 4 percent increase in the MAF be OK?
Last question. Are there CAI tunes in the tool for the GT 500, as it also has an aftermarket CAI?
Thanks/ Bill

The GT500 uses a stock Ford piece for the intake, but yes, there are tunes for the GT500 as different CAis have different MAF housings.
WHat you are looking to do does NOT change the MAF housing, so there is no worry...
