EGR/MDS OFF QUESTION?

Post by jayden »

When you turn the egr off, does it automaticlly turn off the mds? I was reading a thread from another thread and Johan said turning the MDS off does not turn the EGR off, the predator just marks it as it does due to the code the predator runs. So i'm wondering if it's like that the other way around.

Jayden,

Johan was responding to something I thought was happening in that when you turn the MDS off it was turning off the EGR too. But Johan says that when you turn the MDS off it just marks the EGR with an * because of the coding in the predator. He has said before that you actually have to go in the EGR setting and select off. As for the other way around when I've turned the EGR from off to on it would re-enable the MDS and the way I knew it was that the car would get what some call the MDS pulse or bump. That is when the mds is kicking in and out and it would feel like the car is getting bumped from behind and the tach would show a 2 hundred rpm increase and decrease.

Hopefully that helps.

I'm putting in SRT-8 exhaust manifolds on my 5.7 and the EGR is going to be blocked. I would just then turn EGR off via the Predator, right? How will this affect inspections?

Gooeytek,

I'm not sure how that would effect an emissions test, but if you search the lx forums web site for EGR I would bet you'll find the answer. The SRT8 dont need it due to cam lift and separation, so I'm told. My honest opinion is that it will not show up on your emissions test because I had mine done in MD with the 93CAI tune from DS and passed with no problems, and the EGR was off!
