I made it home today after a long trip this week. Prior to getting home I stopped to use the restroom. Left my truck running. Returned and the check engine light was on. Arrived home and checked it with my programmer to see what was wrong. I recieved a trouble code of P0403 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Circ Error. What does this mean and what do I need to do to correct it. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like maybe the EGR valve has an issue.
I know there were some EGR recalls or TSBs on some LLY/LBZ trucks, I would return to stock and let the dealer check itout.
Thanks

Put truck back to stock tune a couple weeks ago and the dealer could not find any codes. I did not delete the codes, but when you put back to stock it clears any codes that are there. I told the dealer I pulled the codes with a buddys reader when the check engine light came on and they said sometimes the cheap readers will erase the codes. To make a long story short I have ran in stock tune that comes on the trucks and have had no luck in the check engine light coming on. When I put the pred tune back whether its 65hp or 85hp tune the light comes on after a short while and will go back off as well. Dont know what to do, but was in hopes the dealer would change the EGR circuit, but they only want to charge $116.00 to hook it up to their computer to tell you they cant find anything wrong. Any suggestions if the programmer is causing the light to come on.

If you could supply us with your vin# and ecm calid number we can check and see if you have the latest update from GM that addresses this issue.
It is possible that with the tune installed it speeds up the process for the error code to appear vs running it with the stock tune.

The check engine light finally came on with the stock tune, but the light comes and goes. Will be back at the dealer with it Friday. They are supposed to replace the egr circuit. I will still get the info you requested to check the updates.
Thanks Johan.

You could just need the newer flash update to resolve the issue.
You can type your vin into this site,
http://tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web
This will list the most current calibrations for you vin(works on any gm vehicle) then you can use the pred to check your files in the truck by selecting "show calid" if yours are older then you only need the flash update and the dealer wont need to tear into your truck.

I asume the last # on the page I pulled up is the latest calid. When I hooked up my pred and checked it the # in the pred is different. So how do I install the flash update to get the most current.

My last post kind of ran together after submitting. The first set of #'s is from the web site i was given and the second is what is on my pred. Not for sure if it looked confusing or not.

Took it to the dealer Friday. Paper work stated: Code PO403 updated PCM and performed EGR valve moter clean procedure. Questioned them about replacing the EGR control circuit and they stated on this truck it dosnt have anything to be replaced just cleaned and updated. Left the dealer, came home and installed my pred tune and in no time WHAMO check engine light. So I put back in stock tune and by Sat. morning check engine light came back on without pred tune installed. After paying $369.14 they will have to take care of this problem. Any sugestions from anyone what might be going on.
