Temperature change with 9r08

There have been a few of us that have noticed higher running temps with 9r08. Not noticable on the gage, but if monitored on EVIC, there's a 10+ degree difference under mid load condition, and at cruise conditions.
It's a bit more complicated as the PCM flash went to the newest AL software, and Mother Mopar has alwas been quirky, so that different years and build dates have different reactions.
I'm running a 06 R/T 05/05 build.
Unfortunately, with the cool weather coming on, it's more difficult to notice the differece.
I've installed a fan indicator light to watch my fan operation, and keep EVIC on jacket water temp. and the difference is significant.
Flashing back to stock would be an indicator if there was something in the tune impacting temp. or if it was the Mopar AL software update file that made the change. Unfortunatly, I need a tune to run smooth with cam. heads, and headers.
Wondering if others are noticing this. It was very noticable when ambient was 90+.

The only difference I've noticed in temperatures was when running with the AutoStick engaged. Running through the gears manually makes the temps go up 15-20°. Otherwise, nothing unusual.
Do you have your fan turn ons lowered? The tune runs stock turn on temps.

Well, my temps havent changed at all. BUT, We did a dyno run with the new 9r08 93cai tune and it seems to run a bit more lean. Like 12.8 compared to 12.2 on the 9r04. Also, with the 9r08 tune I get quite a bit of part throttle ST knock. With the 9r04 not much part throttle ST knock at all. I think it has to do with the new tunes running more lean. The 9r08 93cai tune does feel more peppy though. So, my question is, are the new tunes more lean making some guys cars run more hot?

Hey SRT8Tech, I have an 08SRT8 and installed the 93CAI canned tune, only have K&N CAI and 180 tstat.
I am getting ST and LT knock, max values of 6.5deg ST and 5deg LT. I will up the fuel by 10% in each rev range and also put in Sunoco 94 octane for the next tank, have 93 octane now. If that does'nt work I will try Mobil.
I get the knock both at WOT and directly after gear change nut also at 4800 to 5000 rpm and it is not just a short peak, I can have knock from 4800 to 5300 rpm. So I need to change something.
Have you experienced this? any suggestions that I can try other than what I have stated above?

Catch can for starters....
Try installing the 91 CAI tune to see if the KR gets better as it has less timing.

If it matters, I've noticed some temperature discrepancies too. If you edit a fan turn-on point (any of them), exit and then come back in to that menu, the setting will be a degree or two off of what you set it to. More odd than a real problem, but maybe something to check.

Thats normal. It rounds up or down to the next degree from where you set it.
Running warmer

It's for sure running warmer than before.
At 30% throttle, the temps climb.
I'm running a coolit fan mod, and the fans are coming on. With both low fans on at idle, the temp will climb from 181 to 186, out of gear at 95 ambient.
On a cool morning (62F) it runs right at 179-181 with the 4127 thermo. Temps will jump up if I put my foot into it, but with the cool air, rapidly return to 179.
Same road at 90F today, cruising at 70, it was running 188-194, and jumping on it pushed it up to 204. Going back down the hill with MDS on, it cooled to 186.
It's not noticable on the dash gage, only watching the EVIC.
It's not fan settings, coolant, thermostat, or air in the system.
If I were to return to stock flash, AND Starscan the PCM back to Mother Mopar file AK, could i then reload 8r18 back up and see if the temps change?
By late spring when it warms up again, Mopar and DS may have another upgrade, and it will be difficult to see the temp difference this winter.

I'm curious - Why you are using the Cool It fan module when you have a Predator that can control the fans?
Cool it

I'm still using the cool it for several reasons:
I don't have to connect to change the temp setting.
I can easily default to stock fan settings to "flash off the oil", which I don't do as I change it at 3000 anyway.
And I can quickly bring both fans on high at any time, like when running at the strip.
Shutting the car off and restarting goes back to saved settings.

What does the catch can do?

It catchs the oil coming from the crankcase. Otherwise the oil puddles in the intake manifold, cakes, and gets nasty. ALso decreases plenum volume and reduces power making potential.

I know that, I mean why does it reduce knock.....

The oil that pools in the intake manifold, just behind the throttle body butterfly mixes with the incoming air and dirties the A/F mixture, causing the Knock Sensors to detect knock, therefore retarding the timing to prevent detontation. Most people catch about 10Ml per 1000 miles, I think is the norm? (I may be wrong because I am in Canada and use kms.)

I catch way more then that. I drive the truck super hard though, lots of WOT running. I can get about half a quart in 3k miles between the two catch cans.
