I have a 2007 Yukon Denali and was wondering if taking the fuse out is really necessary. I've installed the program from the beginning without removing the fuse and was wondering if this affects anything.
Thanks.
Is fuse removal necessary to program?

RE: Is fuse removal necessary to program?
I have gotten "lazy" and haven't been pulling the fuses either, thus far with no apparent ill effects.
Now, the manual clearly states to REMOVE the fuse. I DO know that any electrical draw on the system during a tune process can interrupt/corrupt the process.
I guess we are performing at what appears to be a slight risk. It would probably be best to pull them all --- but I haven't had any ill effects to date (at least 20-30 tune operations so far)

if you have any aftermarket items installed - anything that didn't come stock on your vehicle, you HAVE to totally disable them, pull their fuses, etc.
if you're totally stock but have onstar, you have to pull the onstar fuse... if there's communication to/from onstar during the tune write process, it could cause a failure.
if you don't have onstar, and don't have any aftermarket items installed, then no, you don't have to pull any fuses.

My uncle was playing the game on a 2008 silverado Duramax with a PPE programmer and didn't pull the fuses it toasted the ECU had to tow it to the dealer, luckily one of my best friends is the service manager kept his warranty for him and got his ECU under warranty.
PULL the fuses, it takes what a minute tops and is cheap insurance. The duramax ECU isn't bad to purchase around 400 bucks canadian but its not worth it.

Just saw this thread.
Since I've had the Predator I have been pulling the fuse for the Onstar system.
I also have the navigation system in my truck.
Never pulled the fuse for it and I am not even sure which fuse it is for the nav system.
Don't have the owners manual handy right now.
Anybody help me out as to which fuse# on the NBS trucks to pull?
Rather be safe than sorry!
