How is HP/TQ calculated by the Diablo tuner?

Post by SlowSpyder »

*edit - just as I hit submit I realized I'm not in the Trinity section, could this topic be moved? Thanks again.

Hello,

I had a question around my tuner and how it calculates HP/TQ. I have a 2005 PT Cruiser GT with a Diablo Sport Trinity. The reason I ask is that I am troubleshooting a miss fire, I've replaced just about all the sensors, coil, gaskets, timing belt (in time), etc. and I still have a bad miss fire that comes and goes, some times the car won't idle. When this happens, while driving, I'll notice the HP/TQ figures on the Diablo Sport Trinity will drop to zero, then the car has no power and will not run right. I assume the Diablo Sport is calculating those values based on air flow, fuel injector duty, etc. But I was hoping that by finding out how it calculated those values maybe I can hone in on what is causing my issues as it seems the Diablo Sport stops getting a reading from the offending engine component.

Appreciate any help.
